7:00AM

"Co-dependency; excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically one who requires support on account of an illness or addiction."

The professor on the screen spoke heaving a sigh as he wrote the definition onto the chalk board behind him. "Now," He stared at the screen and smiled, "We will be discussing different types of behavior after traumatic experiences. If people experience—share—the same trauma, the survivors will experience a profound bond called Trauma Bond. This is when two survivors rely on one another after their shared experience—"

The laptop was slammed shut and a surprised sound emitted from Kairi as he looked up to Mattia who was frowning at him.

"Dude, are you even packed?" Mattia questioned, his eyebrows drew together as he opened his mouth to say more.

"Mattia, I'm packed. I was packed way before you." Kairi snickered, he knew the other boys excitement was getting to him. He was running around the house making sure they had everything necessary; although, Kairi had double checked already but Mattia was just being driven by his anxiety so he understood.

The car honking outside indicated that their time for gathering their necessities was up.

"Japan, baby!" Mattia hollered.

Kairi rolled his eyes fondly and gathered their things as they hopped into the car. Mateo drove the boys to the airport and the whole process to get into the airport began. Quickly, Mattia's mood soured but his anxiety rose so he held onto Kairi afraid he'd lose the shorter boy in the large crowd.

8:00AM

Finally, they were seated on the airplane and within minutes they were taking off to Japan.

The choice to go to Japan had been a rushed decision on both their ends. Alejandro, had decided to go to Costa Rica to visit family while the boys decided to go out of states.

Their parents had been hesitant but eventually agreed; they would be with them the next day but the boys would have to stay at the hotel in the mean time.

For now, they were by themselves with a guide waiting for them.

The plane landed with a jerk causing the two boys to awaken.

10:00PM

It took a good hour before they were settled in the hotel. Mattia snapping photos and posting them to his Snapchat while Kairi giggled at the amazement on the boy's face but they tired quickly; from the flight and the drive.

Once they entered the bedroom they collapsed into the same bed.

Kairi pulled Mattia into his side and threaded his fingers through the boy's hair causing the boy to relax in his hold; earlier excitement replaced with sleepiness.

Unbeknownst to them their little moment of bliss would be turned upside down.

5:00AM

Kairi felt the hotel bed shake at first he dismissed the feeling confusing it with Mattia moving around before sounds of trinkets falling from the bedpost awoke him. He quickly sat up and blinked in confusion as everything began falling over.
