Kairi loved Mattia a lot.
Mattia loved Kairi a lot.

They expressed it in different manners. Mattia loved psychical interactions whereas Kairi thought words were more powerful. He loved telling Mattia how much he adored him but sometimes he could see the doubt in his boyfriend's eyes. It worried him.

He wanted Mattia to know he loved him.

It was concerning to know how much doubt laid within his counterpart.

Kairi blinked as he stared at the screen before him. For such a small device, it sure contained a lot of hate.

xxmairixx: omg so fucking cute

augustbreeze: tbh idk what that kid sees in Mattia

springhills: Mattia is a homophobe lmao what are you guys even going on about

summerbitch: Kairi liking him is unlikely tf

hoesmad: Mattia is undate-able you see how many bitches left him??

Kairi furrowed his eyebrows as he mouthed the comments in disbelief. Okay, it's not surprising that they were hate comments, it just surprised him how many there were as he scrolled on.

The sound of the shower being turned off made Kairi toss the phone back into its original position. Kairi pulled his own out and pretended to scroll as he thought about the comments.

How could they say that?
Why would they?

Well, their bitter people so it's not a surprise but it hurt him and he wasn't even on the receiving end of it. He loved the boy. Mattia was his everything and he would give anything up in a heartbeat for him. Hell, he'd give up his platform.

Soft thuds broke Kairi out of his thoughts and he watched Mattia enter the room. Kairi nearly cooed at the boy. He was dressed in gray sweatpants and an oversized black Supreme hoodie.

"What's with the look?" Mattia questioned, arching his eyebrow at Kairi.

Kairi frowned.

"What look?"

"You know, the one you have on? You look like a kicked puppy."

"I do not."

"Yes, yes, you do."

"I don't."

Mattia walked closer and pushed himself between Kairi's legs and stood in the space between staring down at the other.

"You literally do." He said, gently pinching Kairi's cheeks and laughing as the other batted his hands away.

"I swear to fuckin' Christ." He grumbled, he gently grabbed Mattia's hands and held onto them while he stared up at the other.

"Matti, babe, you know I love you, right?"

Mattia froze before scoffing.

"I mean, who doesn't?"

Kairi couldn't help but roll his eyes at him. The older let his wrist go and held onto his waist and gently stroked lazy circles.

"Babe, I'm serious. I saw the comments and—"

"You went on my phone?"

"Mattia, you've been on mine and don't try changing the subject. I'm serious. I saw the comments and I need you to know."

"Kairi, I already know."
Mattia grumbled, he sounded exasperated
but Kairi ignored it.

"Okay..but, do you believe me? I love you. I need you to believe me."

Mattia swallowed and his eyes flickered from Kairi to anywhere else.

"I believe you, I do. It's just—it's hard, Kairi. The comments are right. I don't get it either. Why do you like me? Why stick with me?" Mattia spat, his anger slowly leaking into his tone.

Kairi knew Mattia wasn't mad at him but at the comments. Kairi could tell he wanted to say more but refrained from doing so. Kairi let out a hum and waited until Mattia's fit of anger left so he could respond.

"I love you. I love everything about you. Your laugh, your smile, your personality. I will always love you even when you fuck up. I stick with you because you make me happy. Mattia you're special to me. Is it that hard to see? You make me feel whole. It's like me asking why you like me? It's a hard question to answer. I just do. You know me better than anyone and you make me feel right."

Teary eyes stared into warm ones and Mattia let himself muzzle into the mop of hair.

"Okay, Kai." He whispered.

"Give me a kiss?" Kairi mumbled, a smile spreading onto his lips.

Mattia chortled before lifting his chin off of Kairi's head. Kairi hummed as he tilted his head upwards.

Their lips connected and warmth spread through both. Yes, things may have been bleak but this made up for it. Kairi would work harder to show Mattia what he meant and Mattia would try to not let the comments get to him.

Those comments weren't Kairi so he didn't need to worry about it.

Kairi pulled away and Mattia let out a groan of disapproval.

"Come on, we have a bed for a reason."

Mattia smirked and wiggles his eyebrows only to receive a whack to his hip.

"No, for sleep, Matti. You need it." Kairi chided.

Mattia let out an annoyed huff but begrudgingly agreed.

Wrapped in each other's embrace under the covers harsh words meant nothing. Cause, here, he had the only truth that mattered. The only person that mattered.

Kairi.
