All of us except Lip went over to the house where Monica and Roberta were waiting on us. They had set a table up in the living room. I sat in between Ian and Debbie, there was an empty chair beside Fiona for Lip.
Monica waddled through from the kitchen with a dish in her gloved hands. We all watched her as she set it on the table, "I hope everybody's hungry!" she exclaimed.
She grabbed a spoon and began to dish out the food, I was guessing it was lasagne but it's Monica's cooking so I couldn't be sure. She dumped a spoonful on Ian's plate and smiled at him, "There, Ian. It's your favourite."
Ian stared at the food on his plate, "What is it?" He asked. "Lasagne," she stated. Wrong. Lasagne wasn't his favourite.
Monica looked across the table, "Carl, could you start passing the salad? Please?" Carl looked over at Fiona who nodded at him. Carl then did as Monica asked.
"Monica's Liam's mother and I know you won't be happy, but-" Roberta began but was quickly cut off by Monica, "Jesus, Bob. Can we just enjoy our dinner and talk after."
"Talk about what?" Debbie wondered, Monica looked down at her, "Debbie, please," she looked at us, "Where's Lip?"
"He's got something to do," I told her, Monica's shoulders dropped, "He's not coming?" she sounded upset. Lip's always been her favourite, Monica looked down as she sat at the head of the table.
"Sorry, I'm late! Did I miss the chow?" Frank's voice filled our ears, I turned to see him walking towards the table. "Ohh, looks good!" He pulled over a chair and squeezed between me and Debbie.
"If you called us here to tell us you're taking Liam and leaving again," Fiona hissed, "We don't wanna hear it!" Monica sighed and looked at our older sister, "Fiona, you're upset. I get it. I was married to Frank for 18 years. I know it's like swallowing broken glass every day."
"Hey!" Frank hollered, shooting her a look. We heard the door open and Lip walked in. Monica shot up at the sight of him, "Oh Lip. Wonderful, we just started!"
Lip began to take his jacket off, "Your mother said 6:30. You lose your watch?" Roberta fumed, glaring at him. "No, I don't have a watch, Bob!" Lip retaliated and took his seat.
"What's the news?" Ian asked him, Lip pulled an envelope out. "Haven't opened it yet. Figured we should do it together," he states. My leg bounced in anticipation.
"Alyssa, Ian and I have decided to get our DNA tests done too," Lip explained as he started opening the envelope, "On the off chance that maybe we aren't Frank's kids."
"What?" Monica asked puzzled.
Lip shrugged, "Yeah. We figured why should you and Bob get to have all the fun." Lip pulled out a piece of paper and began to read it. We waited in silence.
