Tanong ko lang, ano kaya ang feeling na sa isang kampo ka nang militar nakatira?

Chapter V

A tear rolled down her cheek. Atlantis dashed it angrily away. She wasn’t going to think about anything now. “Stop being a sissy!” she castigated herself. She had to pull herself together.

But she just couldn’t stop feeling sorry for herself. She’s been sheltered from the realities all of her life. Ang hindi pagtanggap sa kanya ng tao ang nag iisang set back niya sa buhay but she had moved on from that long ago. She was wiser now. Kahit konti lang ang kaibigan niya, she was happy and contented. She never took it against life kung bakit walang nakikipagkaibigan sa kanya or anything. Wala rin siyang kaaway. It was not in her to hold grudges on people who wronged her. Pero ngayon nagiging bangungot ang lahat. First, she barely survived an ambush. Second, she lost her dear mom. Third, she lost her old life. Fourth, her life is in danger at nasa kamay ng militar ang kaligtasan niya. Makakabalik pa kaya siya sa dating buhay niya or worst, would she able to get out alive?

She shivered at the thought.

She was getting more depressed now and then.

“Hija,” tapik sa kanya ng General.

Nilingon niya ito.

“We are about to land. Welcome to your new home,” the General said. His voice was not welcoming at all.

Atlantis looked underneath them. Her eyes widened in astonishment. They were a hundred meters above an oval ground inside a military base. She was flabbergasted. A military base! Her temporary home? Is he kidding me?! This is ludicrous!

“But, Sir...”

“In my office, Aia,” the General said in a commanding voice.

Reluctantly, she nodded.

Nang maka-landing ay agad silang sinalubong ng mga naka unipormadong mga sundalo. Inalalayan siya ng mga ito na makababa ng helicopter. The General got off next. Sumaludo ang mga sundalo dito.

“Is Lt. Gabriel Castellejos around?”  General Sebastian asked no one in particular using a commanding voice.

“Good. Tell him I want to talk to him in the war room in thirty minutes.”

“Yes, Sir.”

The General sat on the chair behind his desk. He gestured her into one of the chairs across his desk.  Atlantis opted to stand.

General Sebastian looked at her, studying her closely.

“Speak up.” He could sense that something was bothering her.

Eyes on her sneakers Atlantis said, “General, Sir, I know that you are only after my safety. That is your job right, keeping people safe. Just like me. Unknown bad guys are after me and my dad and you’re here helping me by taking me with you so you could protect me –“

The General cleared his throat to stop her from babbling.

Atlantis bit her lip. She wasn’t aware she was mumbling her words. “I’m sorry.” She collected herself and cleared her throat, “As I said, you are only after my safety but I think living in a military camp and surrounded by military people is just too much.”
