  "Trust takes years to build,

Seconds to break,

And forever to repair."

"Better luck next time Kiddo." The dealer smirked as he picked up the ball from the roulette table.

David pouted, having lost the last of his pitiful stockpile. He was now officially broke.

A broad chested man hovered threateningly behind him, his arms folded in anger as he glared down at the black haired gambler. "What was it you promised again? You'd win it big and pay us back today?" The bulky man leaned down, his whisky scented breath consuming David's nostrils. "How ya plan to do that when you ain't got a dime left on ya?"

David knew he was in trouble. He stupidly borrowed a few thousand dollars from these guys and had been putting off paying them back as he continued to try and win big. Every opportunity he got just seemed to slip away from him though.

First, his job at the grocery store didn't pan out after he was harassed by his manager. With no one to back up his claims, he had to quit before things escalated, only to get stuck working the morning shift at a doughnut shop. Around the fifth time he fell asleep on the job, he was efficiently fired. That shouldn't have been a surprise though. Who the hell has the energy to bake hundreds of doughnuts at 2AM!?

When working didn't pay off, he turned to gambling. Unfortunately he sucked at cards and had to resort to games of luck, like the slot machines or the roulette table. As usual, luck wasn't on his side.

The only thing David really had going for him was his face. Many people would describe it as 'cherubic', which he very much disliked. It sounded like he was baby-faced, which he was not. His untidy black hair certainly didn't help much either. He hated making up his hair every morning and usually left it to it's own devices. Call it the curse of being lazy if you will. His dark brown eyes went well with the wild mop on his head though. Over all, he thought he could be considered attractive. Yet that proved to be troublesome as well, for unrelated reasons.

"Er...Can I get an extension?" David asked hesitantly, putting on the best pair of puppy eyes he could muster.

The man was unaffected. "I think it's time you meet the boss."

He knew what that meant. That meant he was going to get his ass handed to him tonight if he didn't do something fast.

As the man's hand landed roughly on his shoulder, David smiled up. "Oh, I'll need a rain check. I have other things scheduled down south." And with that, he ducked under the roulette table and began crawling for his life.

He heard the over sized man shout angrily as he dove for him, followed by a loud crack as the man's head hit the edge. He was obviously too large to fit, so he stood back up and started shoving people out of his way as he followed his quarry to the other end. The commotion was enough to alarm the other guests, causing people to scatter. Soon, David ran out of table to crawl under and held his breath as he made a mad dash for the larger slot machines.

A loud bellow behind him signaled that the man was right on his heels. David cheekily turned back. "Sorry man! I just don't feel like getting my ass kicked today."

Diving under another table, he continued his crawl towards the exit. Oddly enough, while everyone was panicking there was one pair of legs calmly sitting at the end as though everything was right with the world.
