David's Iphone screen lit up as a new notification flashed, showing yet another missed call from Mr. Black.

David ignored this one as well and tossed the phone into the grass beside him. He then leaned back carefully against the trunk of a large maple tree and sighed.

It was around 2 A.M. in the park. The swing sets creaked as gusts of wind gently rocked them on their chains. The few trees that scattered the grassy field loomed eerily in the dark, and the lights of the city glittered not too far away.

He could have found a bench to sit on, but those were usually occupied by the homeless around this hour, and after his most recent beat down he didn't feel too confident about facing an ornery hobo, so he settled for sleeping under a tree.

David's body was covered in cuts and bruises, but to his surprise nothing was broken. Apparently the goons had decided he looked more financially stable now, so they would go easy on him and give him one last chance to pay them back before they did any permanent damage.

There was a way out of this and David knew it. It was his emergency escape plan for when his debts got out of control. What was the plan? Simple. Take out another loan to pay the over due one.

Did it solve the problem? No. But it always bought him time. Literally.

Turning his phone face down, he curled up and closed his eyes.

David found little solace in the few minutes of sleep that he managed to get. When it grew light enough out, he stumbled out of the park. A few strangers glanced his way uncomfortably, then skittered around him like he had some sort of infectious disease. He didn't entirely understand why until he glanced at his reflection in a nearby window.

His usual wild hair was matted with blood. His left eye was puffy and nearly swollen shut. The whole side of his face had an ugly bruise laced with some trickles of dried blood from his head wound. His lip was split in two places, and his clothes were a bloody mess.

Over all, he looked way worse than he really was. Head wounds bleed profusely, no matter how small the cut and while he did get punched a good bit, it wasn't like he was bleeding to death or had a fractured skull. At least, not that he knew of.

Continuing his trudge down the sidewalk, he felt his phone go off again. He knew it had to be Mr. Black, so he didn't even bother to look at it. The battery would die soon.

Passing by a familiar bank, he paused as he realized he wasn't in as much trouble as he thought he was. Since he had just gotten paid the other day, he could use that to pay off this particular shark. It wasn't like he had borrowed too much, just fifteen hundred. Okay so yeah, that was a lot, plus with interest it was probably over two thousand now.

Finding a light at the end of this tunnel, he hobbled into the building and up to the teller, ignoring the judgmental looks he got from the other patrons. Quickly he pulled out his wallet and showed his ID and bank card.

No, the goons didn't rob him. They were only ever sent to beat him up as a lesson for being late on his payments.

The teller smiled up at him, then froze as she got a good look. Her hand flew up to her mouth immediately. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She exclaimed, drawing more attention than David was comfortable with.

"I want to make a withdrawal." He replied drearily.

The teller hesitated before taking his cards and running them through the system. She cast a worried glance his way every now and then though. A man approached David from behind then. He was wearing a grey T-Shirt and blue jeans, had short brown hair and two preteen boys on either side of him that looked like little clones. "Do you need an ambulance sir?" He asked.
