"Why don't you use the same password for everything?" Corey asked. "It would make this so much easier."
"Because that makes it easier for people to hack your junk." David rebuffed as he entered his third and final guess into the password field.
After what happened at the office, David had run back to Corey's house and offered to pay rent if the man would let him stay until he found a new apartment. He lied and came up with a fake explanation, claiming that he had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and got kicked out. He would have been more honest had he known the man's stance on gay relationships. Luckily he didn't need to give details because Corey was more than happy to take any money that didn't require manual labor on his end.
At the moment David was trying to remember the password to his old email. If this one didn't work he'd have to set up a new one so he could create a Facebook account. From what he gathered, Facebook was still a good platform to find people so he'd be able to track down his old school buddies and try his luck at getting them to apply for Capsicom.
"That didn't work either." Corey remarked as he pointed out the obvious lockout message that popped up.
David leaned back with a frustrated snort. Computers weren't his forte. He actually had to ask Corey for help with all this. At least David knew how to use google.
Another thing he had to admit was that the guys set up was pretty damn sweet. The computer tower was sitting on a corner desk and encased in glass, showing off LED's that were strung up inside as they shifted from purple to green. He had an RGB Keyboard and mouse, with glass LED speakers standing on either side of the monitor. The whole desk would have looked more impressive if the entire thing wasn't surrounded in trash.
Fed up with the recovery process, David decided to make a new email. At this point, Corey scolded him on trying to use Yahoo and insisted he create one with Gmail instead. Apparently Gmail was more relevant now. Afterwards he set up his Facebook profile. Unfortunately he didn't have any pictures of himself to use, so he chose a panda and sent friend requests to anyone he recognized after looking up his old school.
"Now what?"
"Now you wait and see if they accept your friend request." Corey explained. "They might not though, since your profile looks skeevy as fuck."
"Well then, how do I fix that?"
"Here." The guy rolled the computer chair out of the way and gave his entire profile a makeover. He used his phone to take a picture of David and uploaded it so that it would look more like an actual profile rather than a potential bot account. "Were you going to look up apartments online too? Or did you already have a place in mind?"
"You can apply online?" David asked, genuinely surprised. He usually had to pick up applications directly from the landlords, who had a tendency to judge him by his poor, scraggly appearance. This could open a whole new world of possibilities!
Once Corey showed him how, he perused a few locations and turned in a couple applications. Some required that he pay a fee before he was emailed the paperwork, which was fine. Corey showed him how to use Paypal for online costs and how to tie it to his bank account. From there, David felt like he could do anything with this magical device. He had always heard about all the capabilities a computer had, but this was his first time having access to one himself. As soon as he had enough money, he was definitely getting his own.
Once he was done setting everything up, he began cleaning out a spot for himself in the living room. Corey did have a guest bedroom, but he had converted it into the computer room. Piles of unclean laundry and blankets covered most of the floor, as well as overflowing garbage pales and soda cans. Corey's bedroom was off limits but had its own half bathroom, so David wouldn't have to worry about sharing for the few days he planned to stay. At best, he was going to be stuck sleeping on the stained brown couch.
