The pounding in his head was what awoke David. Groaning, he rolled over and cracked an eye open only to squeeze it back shut as he was assaulted by lights.

For a brief period he wondered where he was, then memories of the night before came flooding back. David shot up out of bed, appalled over how he had so nonchalantly announced one of his deepest, darkest secrets to Mr. Black.

What would the demon think of him now? It definitely didn't shine a good light on Davids part. The way he had worded it, it could be misinterpreted as David taking advantage of Ricky, which was NOT what happened at all.

Another painful throb scattered his thoughts. He needed pain killers. Glancing over to the side table, he found a glass of water and two ibuprofen set out already. Mr.Black must have prepared them.

Gratefully he took the medicine and laid back down, but not before spotting the demon asleep in a chair by the side of the bed. His head was slumped over on his shoulder with his arms folded. His usual side swept hair was untamed and his clothes were slightly wrinkled. It looked like the guy had been up most of the night watching over David.

Suddenly the man's head slipped, jolting him awake. Startled, he glanced around before his eyes fell upon the now conscious David.

"You're awake? I'll make breakfast." Was all he said as he stood, stretched, and strutted out of the room.

Wasn't he bothered about last night? Didn't he have questions? Or was the man just unwilling to push the topic? Regardless of his reasoning, David was glad he wasn't being badgered about it. Drama never went well when paired with a hangover.

He stayed in bed until the demon returned and dragged his chair to Davids side where he set a plate down on his lap. It was a very standard breakfast of bacon and eggs, along with a cup of what smelled like chicken broth.

"This should help with your hangover." Mr. Black explained as he scooped up the scrambled egg and began feeding David.

Normally David would have objected to the treatment, but he felt like hell and would welcome any and all pampering right now. Mr. Black then urged him to drink the broth and lay back down. His belly was full and the pain killers were finally kicking in, allowing him to drift back into sweet oblivion.

The next time David awoke, his hangover was significantly less painful. Carefully he stood, testing his balance as he made his way across the room towards the main area where he found Mr. Black. He was sitting on the couch with an arm draped over the back as he watched the news.

David approached him cautiously. "So..." He rubbed his neck and shifted his feet nervously. "About last night."

At the sound of his voice, Mr. Black startled a bit. Then he turned off the TV and turned towards him. "Come and sit with me and we can talk about it."

Taking a deep breath, David did as he was told and sat facing the man. He didn't want to start, but at the same time he felt compelled to explain that he wasn't the bad buy.

Mr. Black waited patiently with his head cocked to one side.

"It's not as bad as it sounds." He began. "What I said about me and Ricky I mean."

"Why doesn't he remember?" The demon inquired, his questions already prepared.

David knew this would be the confusing part. "His drink was spiked."

Mr. Black's eyes narrowed and he hesitated on his next question. "Did you do it?"

"No!" David stood abruptly, then swayed as his head throbbed, reminding him that his hangover wasn't quite gone yet. Sitting back down, he rushed to explain himself.
