So many thoughts were spinning in David's head. How could Mr. Black think he was capable of being anyone's assistant? What did that even entail?

No matter how he looked at it, Mr. Black was a very capable man and most certainly didn't need help. Especially not from someone that he already deemed incapable of cleaning and dressing themselves. What was the point?

Perhaps it was due to their earlier conversation? Mr. Black had claimed he was interested in David and admitted that he planned to give him things he liked to win his attention. Did that mean that all David was expected to do for this job was stand around and twiddle his thumbs?

That's....Not a bad deal actually.

Mr. Black squeezed his shoulder. "You mentioned that you were worried about your friend, so I figured since we got along so well at the party, I'd offer him a job."

Ricky's face brightened and he smiled down at David. "Is that true? It's been a while since we got together and I was a little worried that you may be sleeping in a ditch somewhere."

David pursed his lips. "Nope. I'm like a cockroach, always finding a way to bum around in someones home."

Ricky huffed. "I'd rather call it perseverance. Anyways, I'm glad things are starting to look up for you." He faced Mr. Black. "Wait, if he's going to be your assistant that means he'll be coming to the office every day."

"At least on the days I'll be here, and if he shows promise I may take him to my other company as well."

Ricky's face broke into a goofy grin. "That's amazing! David! We're gonna work together!"

"I know! I heard!" David replied with a smirk, amused by just how excited his friend was getting over that small bit of news.

Ricky then put a hand on his free shoulder and went serious. "Don't screw this one up man. Not naming any names, but everyone here takes themselves a little too seriously and I'd appreciate having at least one person I can be myself around."

David glanced up at Mr. Black who cleared his throat. "Sure."

At this point the other demon checked his phone. "Well, I can take over any meetings you have left from here. Since you two are so close, I thought you might like to spend the day showing him around?"

"I have an 8 A.M. in the 20th floor conference room and another one at 9 A.M. in the same room, but with the board of directors. There's another right after that with a few of our investors as well." Ricky immediately responded, more than happy to dump his workload on the other man.

Mr. Black added them to his mobile calendar. "Got it, I'll see you this afternoon." He nodded to David, then returned to the elevators. Once they were alone, Ricky grabbed the little human by the shoulders and began shaking him excitedly.

"I can't believe you got a job HERE!" He practically squealed with excitement. "I've been nearly run into the ground since starting here. I know absolutely nobody and it's like tiptoeing on glass with half of them."

"Thanks for the confidence boost." David grimaced.

"Oh, no I didn't mean that." Ricky let go and stepped back. "You know how corporate offices are. Or...Maybe you don't. I don't think you've ever worked at an office, have you?"

"Nope. This is my first time, but Mr. Black said he didn't have anything too hard for me to do."

"As an assistant? Nope. Ninety percent of your time will be spent retrieving coffee, buying lunch, carrying papers, and setting reminders on his calendar. Easy-peasy." Ricky leaned back on his desk with a sigh. "Unlike me who has to clean up the mess that was left by the old owners. They had some of the worst demons set up in their partner program. It was hard getting rid of them without completely shutting down the office."
