Alex's POV
I spent several days in the hospital. It was torture, for both Mom and I."We just need to check her vitals and then she'll be free to go." Doctor Greg explained as he pulled out some stuff.
When he started I quickly held onto my Mom's hand.
"Her vitals and everything else seem to be good. Miss Lovato, I would like to speak to you for a moment." Doctor Greg said as he brought Mom into the hallway.
Demi's POV
"What is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked Doctor Greg."Have you ever thought about rehab for Alex? I know she's only 14, but it might benefit her." Doctor Greg said as he wrote something down on his clipboard.
"I can't do that. She can't handle rehab, I couldn't handle it when I was 18 so what makes you think she can? I have faith she can get better in my care. I'm going to make sure of it. I'll take her to see her therapist more often, some family therapy, etc." I replied.
"If you ever change your mind, here's some recommendations on where you could send her. I also wrote down some good therapists in your area and out of the area, even though you guys have one currently. The ones out of the area have video chat options, and once a month you can have a meeting in person." Doctor Greg said, handing me a piece of paper.
"Thank you, for keeping my baby girl alive." I smiled at Doctor Greg through some tears.
"You have a strong girl, Miss Lovato." Doctor Greg said and walked off.
Alex's POV
"Are you ready to go?" Mom asked when she walked back in the room, it looked like she had been crying."As ready as I'll ever be.." I muttered. "Why didn't they let me die?" I asked Mom as we got in the back of the car. It was going to take us back to the tour bus.
"They didn't let you die because you're worthy of living, baby girl." Mom said as she grabbed ahold of my hand.
"How? I don't see it. I'm fat, disgusting, a freak, unwanted.." I said as I had tears in my eyes. "T-They all say that.." I whispered as I let my hair cover my face.
"Who all says that?" Mom asked quietly. I continued to look away and stay quiet. "Baby, look at me. Who says that?" She made me look her in the eyes.
"S-Some of your Lovatics.. and people from my old s-school.." I replied and curled up on my seat. Mom rubbed my back and stopped when she pulled out her phone. I could hear her angrily typing. I got a Twitter notification from her.
I looked at Mom's Tweet and I read it.
"Give me your phone, baby girl." Mom commanded.
"Why?" I asked as I hesitantly gave Mom my phone.
"Social media isn't helping you one bit. I'm making you take a break from it for a while." Mom put my phone in her purse. We arrived back at the tour bus and got inside.
"I'm tired!" I exclaimed as I plopped down on the bed.
"You can nap, baby." Mom said hanging up her sweater.
"I got to piss first!" I yelled and ran towards the bathroom.
"TMI!" Mom shouted. I ran into the bathroom and I saw what was left from when I overdosed. There was an empty bottle of pills and blood on the bathroom tile.
You caused this.
Freak.
You put your mother through so much stress.
You're a fuck up.
"N-No! No! No!" I screamed as I backed up into a corner. "M-Make them shut u-up!" I cried out.
"Alex!" Mom quickly came over and kneeled in front of me. "Alex, focus on me." She said.
"M-Make them s-stop!" I cried as my voice cracked.
"Baby, look at me." Mom made me look into her eyes. "Focus on my voice, baby girl." She pulled me into her embrace and held my head against her chest. "Follow my breathing. Focus on me. It's only Mommy, baby." She cooed as I let out a choked sob. We eventually got my breathing back to a normal pace.
"I.. I'm sorry.." I whispered.
"You don't have to apologize. What was that all about, baby girl?" Mom asked calmly as she picked me up and brought us to the bed.
"I.. I saw the bathroom a-and I guess it t-triggered me.." I spoke softly. "T-The demons told me I'm a f-fuck up.."
"It's okay, Alex. You're definitely not a fuck up. You're my, baby girl. I love you more than words can describe." Mom whispered in my ear as she rocked us back and forth. "If anyone is a fuck up, it's Max." She joked out loud so Max can hear.
"Hey!" I heard his Australian accent come from the bathroom, I assumed Max was cleaning it up. We laughed a bit.
"I'm tired.." I told Mom.
"You can nap, baby girl." Mom replied.
"Stay with me?" I asked quietly.
"Of course." Mom lay down with me and we cuddled. She ran her fingers through my hair as sleep took over.
