A few days later, Alicia had Mammon sitting in the library. She agreed to help him study for his upcoming exams, but she quickly realized they weren't going to get everything done in a quick session at the house, considering he had multiple exams to study for.
"Come on Licia...I know I asked for help with my studying, but it looks like you're setting me up for torture." Mammon watched Alicia as she laid out everything she thought they would need to have a good study session. "I thought we could just stay in one of our rooms and study there."
"We can't stay in your room because it stinks." Alicia pointed out with a small laugh. "And my room is only the best place for me to study because I know how I study best." She laid out blank flashcards and pulled out several packs of pens and highlighter tabs. "You have five classes to study for and only a week to do it so you're getting my crash course study method. How do you usually study?"
"Um...." Mammon rubbed the back of his head and chuckled a bit. "Ya know...I don't usually..."
"I figured as much. Even brief glancing at notes would help you retain some information." Alicia opened his textbook to the chapter he was looking over for his Anatomy of Magical Creatures class. "We're gonna be here for a while." She grabbed her phone and scrolled through her music before she found her study playlist.
"What kinda music is this? It sounds...depressing."
"It's not depressing. It's LoFi music, it allows you to study with background noise without getting distracted by the lyrics and melody. I could never study in silence." Alicia started to skim through his textbooks, placing highlighter tabs next to sections she knew would be on the test. "Okay, the important thing about the anatomy of a Kraken is..."
Her voice trailed away as Mammon watched her work. She was fast, was she retaining any of the information she was reading? How could anyone? He glanced at her and nodded while she spoke and jotted down notes on the flashcards. While he wasn't paying much attention to what she was saying, he did notice her handwriting wasn't very neat. He chuckled a bit to himself, she could cook her ass off, fight, and managed to work her way around the insane curriculum that was RAD's core educational system, but she couldn't do the cute script he assumed all women could.
"What's so funny?" Alicia snapped her fingers at him and pouted. "Come on Mammon, you need to pass these classes. I've heard more about Lucifer's infamous punishments, and I'd rather not see you sitting on a chair of needles because you're bringing shame on the student council."
"I'm always going to bring shame on the council...If ya haven't noticed, my brothers don't think much of me." Mammon laughed a bit and stopped when he watched her stare at him. "You shouldn't worry too much."
"I'm doing this for more reasons than because you asked me." Alicia put her pen down and sighed. "I'm tired of your brothers talking about you, and to you, any old kind of way." She leaned on her hand and absently pulled her shirt sleeve to her mouth. "If you're supposed to be the second strongest of your family, then they need to respect that. Not call you a shit ton of names and constantly rag on you."
Mammon sat there a little shocked. He felt a warm feeling he hadn't felt in years, hearing her defend him like that. He laughed it off a bit, shaking his head slowly. "They're not completely wrong ya know."
"They are. Why is it that you're scum? Because you indulge in your sin? No one calls Levi a pathetic loser to his face damn near 24/7 because he's constantly pitying himself. Or calls Belphegor a lazy bum for sleeping all the time. Or Lucifer a headstrong, self-righteous asshole for how he lets his pride dictate everything he does." She lightly chewed on the sleeve of her shirt. She had a feeling she would regret saying that last part, but she couldn't worry about it now. "And I'm sure you're not an idiot. We all have talents that we've yet to discover, and retaining information is one of them. I told them to knock it off...and that I would help you study for your exams. Satan laughed at me and told me you wouldn't pass and I would be better off focusing on my own studies."
