[Song for the chapter: Leave Out All The Rest- Linkin Park]
Tori's P.O.V
"Honey, your alarm ringed at least 4 times in the past thirty minutes. Wake up." I hear my dad's voice as he nudges me.
I move the blanket a bit so that my eyes are peeking out from underneath, "I don't wanna go to school." My voice comes out muffled.
"Why not?" He gives me a warm smile.
"I don't feel like it." I groan.
"You could take a day off, but I don't think mom's going to approve."
"I could tell her I'm sick." I uncover my face completely.
"And you think she's going to believe you?" He scoffs at me, "But, if I tell her.... she may fall for it."
"Anything else?"
Standing behind dad, leaning against the door was mom.
"Mission abort." He whispers to me before giving mom an innocent-looking smile, and running away.
I grin at mom, she shakes her before smiling too, "Get ready."
Before I can protest she's gone. So much for skipping school.
By the time I'm ready Harper is already here. Harper glares at me the whole thirteen minutes it takes for me to eat breakfast.
"Why do you have to be late every fucking time?" She says as we get into her car.
"I didn't wanna go to school today."
"Because you don't wanna see Nathan."
"And Francy." I add, "I feel like a criminal." I groan.
"I mean... you did steal Nathan from Francy, so in a way..."
"Not helping." I snap at her.
"Right. Of course." She stifles a laugh, "I will make sure no matter what happens, you will be as far away from Nathan as possible. And Francy."
"If anyone can do it, it's you."
"But there's nothing I can do about lunchtime. That's on you."
"You could always tell everyone something traumatic happened to you and I'm the only one you can talk to. So that I don't have to talk to the others."
"Yeah, I don't think they'll buy it." She snorts.
"Maybe you can join me in my misery. You have to see Terry too, you know."
She scowls at the mention of his name, "Don't even start."
A few minutes pass, and just like that we're at school.
Harper parks her car and I follow her to the entrance like a lost puppy. Of course, Hayden, Nathan, and Ian were standing outside, smoking.
I give Harper a look.
"This was not supposed to happen. This was not a part of my plan." She shakes her head.
"Hey, Cupcake! Missed me?" Ian winks at me, suddenly in a way better mood than before I left,
"If I remember correctly, she cried every night, desperately wanting to see you." Harper answers for me.
"Reed, I love how we're always so honest with each other." Ian gives her an amused smile, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
"Wanna smoke?" Hayden pulls a cigarette out for Harper, as she slaps Ian's hand off of her shoulder.
But the bell starts to ring.
