|12:00pm|Walking down the corridor of the gymnasium I could hear the squeaks of trainers against the floor and the sound of a ball bouncing up and down.
As I continued my way up the corridor I eventually found the double doors into the gymnasium.
Before opening the door I peered through the window to see Shawn at the other end of the room chucking ball after ball into the net.
Taking a nervous deep breath I then pushed the door open, the sound echoing around the stadium.
As Shawn heard me enter his head immediately flipped round and his eyes landed on me. With a smile growing onto his lips Shawn then turned around fully before gradually walking towards me.
"I'm surprised you came" Shawn lightly chuckled, only making a smile pull on my lips as I faintly rolled my eyes.
"Well I said I would, didn't I?" I laughed, raising my eyebrows at him which resulted in a wide grin leaving his face.
"Well I'm glad you're here" Shawn smiled, dimples piercing his cheeks as I watched his tongue smoothly wipe across his bottom lip.
Feeling myself become a little flushed at his gesture I began fiddling with my hair by pushing it behind my ears.
"Wanna try shoot some shoots?" Shawn then asked, brushing his fingers through his front curls as they hung to his sweaty forehead.
"I can try" I replied, a little unsure considering I had never played basketball before.
Laughing at my response Shawn threw me a smirk before turning around to go and grab a ball off the tack.
"Just take a shot at it, you can't be that bad" Shawn softly chuckled, making me let out a faint scoff.
"You're about to eat your words Mendes" I replied, giving him an appointed look as he walked over and placed the ball in my hands.
"I doubt that" shawn grinned down at me, tapping his hands down onto the ball as it rested in my arms.
As his gripping smile loomed down at me I shyly bit down on my bottom lip before turning around and taking a few steps away from him.
Turning back round Shawnwas still stood where he was, his arms now folded across his chest as veins flexed through his visible muscles.
"Do you wanna get hit in the head by a ball?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at him as he slightly rocked from side to side.
Letting out a soft chuckle Shawn then took two giant steps back so he was fully out of my way.
"Good luck" Shawn then smirked, flashing me a wink.
Feeling my cheeks heat up at the look he had given me I then tried to suppress my smile before looking towards the basketball net to take a shot.
Holding the ball between both hands I then took a step forward before throwing the ball up in hopes of it landing in the net but ofcourse, like I had said, it missed by a long shot.
"You really were telling the truth when you said you were bad" I then heard Shawn laugh, causing my eyes to drift back onto him.
"I'm more of a baseball type" I shrugged, a shy smile pressed to my lips as Shawn broke out into a wide grin.
"You like baseball?" Shawn asked before going over to grab a basketball off the floor.
"Yeah I use to always go to games with my dad" I replied, almost frowning at the thought.
"What, you don't go to them anymore then?" Shawn then said, now holding the ball under arm as he kept his gaze on me.
"No, I don't think I've been to one in three years" I faintly smiled, taking my arms so they were now folded across my chest.
"Why not?" Shawn softly laughed, resulting in a quiet sigh leaving my lips.
"It's a long story" I shrugged, not particularly wanting to tell him.
"Well we can save that for another day, but how about for now we just go and grab some food?" Shawn gave me a warm smile, a comforting look in his eyes as if he knew it was a sensitive topic.
"That sounds great" I returned him a thankful smile which only made his smile grow even more and dimples form in his cheeks.
"Okay, let me just grab my things from the locker room and then I'll meet you outside the front of building" Shawn explained as I nodded in response before he turned around and jogged out of the room.
|12:43pm|
Shawn and I were now at a little cafe on campus, the same cafe I come to almost every morning for my morning coffee.
We had already ordered our food and drinks. I had ordered avocado on toast and Shawn, after much deliberation, settled on having a ham and cheese panini.
"So anyway what do you major in?" Shawn then asked as he took his mug of tea away from his lips and placed it down on the table.
"Childhood studies" I replied, making Shawn smile as he pulled his eyebrows together.
"That's different" Shawn softly chuckled as I gave him a confused look of what he meant.
"How that's different?" I asked, picking up my smoothie and sipping from the straw.
"I just mean that you're like the first girl I've met who studies that. Literally every other girl I've spoken to about their major either studies nursing or fitness" Shawn laughed, making me raise my eyebrows with an amused smile along my lips.
"There are like over thirty majors here, how is that even possible?" I asked, causing Shawn to laugh as he lightly shook his head before resting his crossed arms on the table so he was sat forward.
"I don't know, it's just like every girl is the exact same, like a carbon copy of each other" Shawn joked, making me playfully roll my eyes.
"Well maybe you are just a magnet for the same hundred girls?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at him, resulting in a scoff and laugh leaving Shawn's lips.
"Firstly there's no where near been a hundred, and also I attracted you didn't I?" Shawn smirked, cockiness teasing his words.
Feeling my cheeks burn I again rolled my eyes as my smile turned shy and meek.
Noticing my reaction Shawn let out an amused laugh before I looked away to see that the waitress was now coming over with our food.
