|2:03pm|Having finished up at lunch Shawn was now walking me back to my dorm.
Throughout lunch we had pretty much just chatted about college. I had learnt that Shawn majored in fitness and health management and was working towards becoming a personal trainer, while I had told him all about how I wanted to work with children.
It was so great to just have a mature and real conversation with someone. I mean ofcourse I've got Heidi but she's never been the sort to have serious conversations. She's just all about having fun and living in the moment rather than looking into the future.
"So where did you grow up?" Shawn then asked, the two of us walking side by side as we strolled down the path.
"I grew up in in Ottawa" I replied, glancing over at Shawn as he rested his hands in the pocket of his hoodie.
"At least we grew up in the same province then" Shawn lightly laughed, briefly looking down at me.
"Where are you from?" I then asked, pulling my coat around me for warmth.
"A little town in Toronto" Shawn replied, as I nodded along in response.
"I love Toronto, it's so pretty there" I said in awe, causing a smile to rise onto Shawn's lips.
"Yeah it's a pretty cool place, especially at night" Shawn grinned down at me, making me only smile back.
"You ever been to Ottawa?" I asked causing him to stifle a short laugh as he lightly shook his head.
"I can't say that I have" Shawn chuckled causing me to playfully scoff.
"What? I've literally never left Toronto before if I'm being totally honest. Coming to Montreal for college is my first time leaving the city" Shawn explained, causing me to raise my eyebrows in surprise.
"Don't you want to see the rest of the world? I mean I couldn't be stuck in one city for the whole of my life" I replied, making Shawn chuckle in amusement.
"Well firstly, in my defence, Toronto is huge so there is plenty to do there and also I don't know why I've never left. I guess I've just had no reason to leave" Shawn shrugged, as he began kicking a stone along with his shoe.
"Travelling is like the most amazing thing, there's so many things I want to see" I explained as a faultless smile played along Shawn's lips.
"Well where have you been then, Miss Columbus?" Shawn teased as I laughed along and playfully rolled my eyes.
"My family and I use to travel around a different part of Asia every summer" I explained, my eyes drifting out to watch the people sat on the field.
"That sounds like so much fun, how comes you stopped?" Shawn asked, sounding genuinely interested as I took my attention back to him.
"Well my parents moved back to the Philippines at the end of last year" I explained, a small sigh escaping my lips.
"Back? What, are you from the Philippines then?" Shawn asked with enthusiasm, making me softly laugh.
"Yeah, I was born and raised there until I was about three years old before my family moved over here" I explained as Shawn nodded along.
"If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you move to the Philippines with them?" Shawn sweetly asked, causing a small smile to tug at my lips at how thoughtful he was being.
"I wanted to finish school here and go to a college in Canada" I replied, telling him half of the truth.
I mean we barely knew each other. He didn't need to know about my chaotic family. It wasn't worth mentioning.
"So where did you stay?" Shawn asked as we now reached the path that leads up to my dorm building.
"I moved in with my brother and his family" I smiled, thinking back to how much I enjoyed living with my brother, his fianceé and my nephew.
"Is it just you and your brother?" Shawn then said causing me to nod.
"Yeah, we're so close" I replied as Shawn gave me a warm smile, as if hanging on my every word.
"It's the greatest thing being close to your sibling. I have a little sister and she's like my best friend" Shawn explained as I smiled up at him with such ease.
"How old is she?" I asked, the two us slowly coming up to the doors of my building.
"Thirteen, I think" Shawn chuckled as he brushed his fingers through his curls.
Softly laughing at Shawn's response we finally made it to my dorm building. Coming to a stop I turned to face Shawn who was already smiling down at me, so much charm in his eyes.
"Thank you so much for today, it was nice to have some new company for a change" I smiled, making Shawn lightly laugh as flicked his eyes down to his feet before looking back up at me.
"You're welcome, and thank you for calling me in the first place. I've had a great time" Shawn grinned, a giddy feeling building up inside of me.
"I'll see you around?" I rose my eyebrows, more as a question.
Laughing in response Shawn nodded before settling a dimpled smile on me.
"See you around, Elle" Shawn chuckled, flashing his hazel eyes at me once more before turning around and walking down the path.
As he left me standing there I couldn't wipe the growing smile from my face. I didn't understand what I was feeling right now. All I knew was that I liked it.
Once Shawn finally walked out of sight I let out a deep breath before pulling a small smile and walking into my building.
After taking the elevator up to my floor, being too lazy to take the stairs, I made my way up the hall to my dorm.
Reaching my dorm I unlocked the door before pressing down on the handle to open it. Walking into my room I was surprised to see that Heidi and Liam were no longer here.
Letting out a peaceful at having some time to myself I closed the door behind me before dropping my bag onto my bed.
Pulling my phone out of my pocket I then took off my coat before laying it over the back of my chair.
Unlocking my phone I then went onto spotify before putting my playlist on shuffle and going into the bathroom to take a shower
