Light Within Dulce [On Going]

Dulce

He's wearing the hoodie that I gave almost for years ago.

"Paano?" naguguluhan kong tanong.

He sat beside me and I'm still staring at him. "Vitrectomy," he answered. "Well it is a type of eye surgery used to treat problems of the eye's retina and vitreous. Dad offered it to me when I got blind. But, I refused."

Oh, so hindi pala siya inborn?

"K-kailan ka ba nabulag?"

He sighed. "When I was eighteen."

"We met when you were twenty," I remembered how he said it to me at the plane. "Woah, why did you refused your father's offer?"

"I thought I deserved it. I thought I deserve to be unable to see the world. I really have no reason to undergo that surgery," he smiled and looked at me. "But then I met you. And, I realized that I missed several chances already to see the places that I've been through. I also wanted to see you."

My heart bounced.

"Dad was happy that I made that decision before it's too late. So, we moved to America for the surgery. I didn't know that we'll stay there for almost four years. Hindi rin kita nakausap ulit,"

A tear escaped my eye. "How's your life at there?"

"I studied again and I graduated college. Business Management," he answered. "I visit here every year, actually. But, I didn't know how to approach you."

Mabuti naman at nakapagtapos din siya. Sinabi niya kasi sa akin dati na tumigil na siya sa pag-aaral dahil ayaw na niya. Nahihirapan siyang mag-aral dahil sa kalagayan niya pero tignan mo nangyari, another achievement for him. Wait... bumisita na siya rito dati?!

"You visited?!"

"Yep. Nakakakita na ako noon."

There was silence. Sayang naman, hindi ko siya nakita.

"M-may girlfriend ka na?" I asked out of a blue.

He chuckled. "Wala,"

Sighed. I felt relieved. Wait, what?

"Ex?"

"Nope,"

"Why?"

He laughed again because of my curiosity. "May mga nagkakagusto sa akin syempre," sabi niya sa mayabang na tono. "Pero, iniisip ko nalang. Paano kaya kapag nalaman nila na bulag ako, magugustuhan ba nila ako? Palagi kong tinatanong 'yan sa kanila. And, I expected their answers."

I nodded. "Binibigyan nga pala ako ng kapatid mo tuwing pasko ng cupcakes."

"Yep, I told her to do so," my mouth formed an 'o'. "Sorry, hindi ako gumawa ng paraan para makapagusap tayo."

Mahina ko siyang tinulak. "Ano ka ba? Ayos lang yun! Ang mahalaga naman ay nasa maayos kang kalagayan. Salamat pala sa mga cupcakes ah?"
