Ethan comes home for working on Fear Nights and finds Odette in the study with her big, brand name Deejay headphones that he gave her. He remembers the night they stayed up and he assisted her in her custom bedazzling of them. He smiles at the fond memory when he notices she's singing and dancing in her chair thans facing away from him.
She wiggles in her chair and begins to sing
" My old man is a bad man But I can't deny the way he holds my hand And he grabs me, he has me by my heart He doesn't mind I have a Las Vegas past He doesn't mind I have a L.A crass way about me He loves me with every beat of his cocaine heart Swimming pool Glimmering, darling White bikini off with my red nail polish Watch me in the swimming pool Bright blue ripples, you Sitting sipping on your black crystal, oh yeah Light of my life, fire OF my loins Be a good baby, do what I want Light of my life, fire OF my loins Gimme them gold coins Gimme them coins And I'm off to the races, CASES OF Bacardi CHASERS Chasing me all over town 'Cause he knows I'm wasted, Facing time again ON Reiker's Island And I won't get out Because I'm crazy, baby I need you to come here and save me I'm your little scarlet, starlet Singing in the garden Kiss me on my open mouth Ready for you My old man is, a tough man But he got a soul as sweet as blood red jam And he shows me, he knows me every inch of my tar black soul He doesn't mind I have a flat broke down life In fact he says he thinks it's what he might like about me, admires me The way I roll like a rolling stone Likes to watch me in the glass room, bathroom Chateau Marmont Slipping on my red dress, putting on my make up Glass film, perfume, cognac, lilac, FUMES, says it feels like heaven to him Light of his life, fire of his loins Keep me forever, tell me you want me Light of your life, fire of your loins Tell me you want me, gimme them coins And I'm off to the races, CASES OF Bacardi CHASERS Chasing me all over town 'Cause he knows i'm wasted, facing Time again ON Reiker's, Island and I won't get out Because I'm crazy, baby I need you to come here and save me I'm your little scarlet, starlet Singing in the garden, Kiss me on my open mouth Now I'm off to the races, laces Leather on my waist is, Tight and I am falling down I can see your faces shameless Cipriani's basement Love you, but I'm going down God I'm so crazy, baby I'm sorry that I'm misbehaving I'm your little harlot, starlet Queen of Coney Island Raising hell all over town Sorry 'bout it My old man is a thief, and I'm gonna stay and pray with him till the end But I trust in the decision of the LORD, To watch over us Take him when he may, if he may I'm not afraid to say That I'd die without him Who else is gonna put up with me this way I need you, I breathe you, I'D never leave you They would rue the day, I was alone without you You're lying with your gold chain on Cigar hanging from your lips I said hon' you never looked so beautiful As you do now my man And we're off to the races, places Ready set the gate is, down And I'M going in To Las Vegas, CHAOS CASINO OASIS Honey it is time to SPIN Boy you're so crazy, baby I love you forever Not maybe You are my one true love You are my one true love You are my one true love"
Ethan smirks at the thought of Odette at Rikers' Island. He has no idea what she's listening too, it almost surprises him because it isn't something she'd expect her to listen to, but then again everything about Odette surprises him, he ought to have grown immune to it.
"What are you groovin to lil mama?" He says jokingly and loud enough for her to hear it. She jumps and swings the chair around.
"Lana Del Rey." She answers.
"Oh," Ethan answers, "I've heard of her, I don't think I've ever heard her though." He confesses.
"Well we have to change that." Odette says, standing and grabbing Ethan's hand, dragging him into their bedroom.
She plugs her iPod into the bedroom stereo and fiddles with it, she decides on a song and presses play. The song begins, and Ethan sits on the bed watching Odette dance and sing along.
" Feet, don't fail me now Take me to the finish line Oh, my heart it breaks Every step that I take, But I'm hoping at the gates, They'll tell me that you're mine
Walking through the city streets, Is it by mistake or design? I feel so alone on the Friday nights Can you make it feel like home, If I tell you you're mine?
It's like I told you, honey
Don't make me sad, Don't make me cry Sometimes love is not enough, And the road gets tough, I don't know why Keep making me laugh, Let's go get high-The road is long, We carry on, Try to have fun in the meantime
Come and take a walk on the wild side, Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain, You like your girls insane
So, choose your last words This is the last time 'Cause you and I, We were born to die
Lost but now I am found, I can see but once I was blind I was so confused as a little child Tryin' to take what I could get, Scared that I couldn't find
All the answers, honey
Don't make me sad, Don't make me cry Sometimes love is not enough, And the road gets tough, I don't know why Keep making me laugh, Let's go get high-The road is long, We carry on, Try to have fun in the meantime
Come and take a walk on the wild side, Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain, You like your girls insane
So, choose your last words This is the last time 'Cause you and I, We were born to die
We were born to die, We were born to die
Come and take a walk on the wild side, Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain, You like your girls insane
So, don't make me sad, Don't make me cry Sometimes love is not enough, And the road gets tough, I don't know why Keep making me laugh, Let's go get high-The road is long, We carry on, Try to have fun in the meantime
Come and take a walk on the wild side, Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain, You like your girls insane
So, choose your last words This is the last time 'Cause you and I, We were born to die, We were born to die"
Ethan almost doesn't pay attention to the music, he's far too focused on Odette and her dancing, but he remembers that she's sharing something she enjoys with him and he appreciates it.
Some of the lyrics make it obvious to him why she chose this song in particular, it's catchy and almost slow. He can't really explain it and isn't sure if he likes it. It isn't what he is used to, he decides that's a good thing and bobs his head along.
The song ends and Odette straddles his hips, as they're locked in a kiss. She stands up and says she has to get ready for their date.
