Odette knew that she really shouldn't be employed at Tic Tac Joe's. She was quite possibly the worst worker ever, she was constantly taking off to sit in a smoke stained corner of the coffeeshop to work on novel. The book which was fueled by the untimely death of her hometown bestfriend Betsy; plus copious amounts of black coffee, cigarettes, and angstrom music. Odette also knew that the definition of angstrom isn't angst ridden, but she misused the word anyway.

Her bad work ethic was why Drew was so shocked at the sight of her behind the busy counter when he woke up that afternoon. He had stayed up far into the night, early morning hours with Xana. Xana, who Drew had found, had even lower self esteem than Odette. He wonder if deep down she knew she was just a sad substitute for the object of his true adoration, he didn't care if she knew or not, she took her undeserved punishments gratefully. It curbed his needs slightly, but made him want to be even more rough with Odette.

Odette looked at Drew with a knowing smirk and nodded to the hickies he had let Xana suck into the flesh of his neck. "Fun night last night?" He shrugged. "Eh, it was alright."

"Who was it with?" Odette asked, hoping for a little friendly dishing, she couldn't exchange sexcapades with Betsy anymore and thought it would be fun do to do with her loyal friend.

"Xana." he said flatly, secretly hoping Odette would react angrily. Drew decided that when she showed her jealousy he would drag her upstairs and punish her twice as hard. He wanted to hear the girl, the object of his obsession, beg. Beg for mercy and beg him to enter her. He'd give in and fuck her, but would show no mercy.

Odette simply raised her eyebrows and then said with a smile "Makes sense. Right on." Odette wanted her friend to be happy, she wasn't going to judge him or ostracize him due to his budding relationship.

Drew didn't like her reaction. He had no idea how he and Xana could possibly make sense. He knew she was lying to him. She had to be. Because Odette loved and needed him, even if she wouldn't admit it.

It was almost an hour later when he heard the slow sultry music wafting from the sound system, and he heard Odette sing along to soulful wail.

" You said I was the most exotic flower Holding me tight in our final hour

I don't know how you convince them and get them, but I don't know what you do, it's unbelievable And I don't know how you get over, get over Someone as dangerous, tainted and flawed as you

One for the money, and two for the show I love you honey, I'm ready, I'm ready to go How did you get that way? I don't know You're screwed up and brilliant, Look like a million dollar man, So why is my heart broke?

You got the world but baby at what price? Something so strange, hard to define

It isn't that hard boy to like you or love you I'd follow you down down down, You're unbelievable If you're going crazy just grab me and take me I'd follow you down down down, anywhere anywhere

One for the money, two for the show I love you honey, I'm ready, I'm ready to go How did you get that way? I don't know You're screwed up and brilliant, Look like a million dollar man, So why is my heart broke?

I don't know, You're screwed up and brilliant, Look like a million dollar man, So why is my heart broke?"

Drew didn't care that the cafes' music was on shuffle. He took it as a sign from god and from Odette. She loved him. She didn't like him with someone else. He knew he had to help her escape from Ethan. He was willing to do anything to ensure that Odette was happy, and with the right man for her.
