Jia got back from the Thailand camp. She and I had the talk, and... You know what guys, I'll tell you about that some other time. Let's go back to states where Deanna and Jema stayed.
Deanna had been taking the chemotherapy secretly at that time.
And just after she vomit her guts out, she always pass by a small chapel at the hospital. She used to ask for a strength to face this problem and a sign to tell Jema, from Him.
But, you know how chemo's work, making you slimmer, loosing your appetite, and the most obvious one, making your hair fall out.
The night after her fourth session, Deanna looked at herself in the full length mirror. She did looked pale and slimmer. She looked at her head full of hair.
'This won't last long.'
She said. So, she had an idea.
Jema, who just got out of the shower, approached her and hugged her from behind. "I miss you." She said that made Deanna smiled.
She turned to face her and kissed her. "Hmm." She hummed on her lips.
Jema looked at her after she released her. "What are you looking at the mirror kanina?"
She turned again to look at her reflection while still having Jema enveloped on her arms. "What do you think of a new look?"
"What do you mean? Like the way you dress?"
"No. Shorter hair."
"Why?" Jema looked at her on the mirror reflection. "You look good naman with long hair ah?"
"Wala naman, since we are here for because we wanted a new start, why not new look. Right?"
"Well, I think, even when you are bald, you are still the most beautiful person."
Deanna looked at Jema with nervousness. "Bald?"
'Did she knew? Did she figured it out? Did someone spilled?' She thought.
"Yeah, you were thinking of cutting your hair short, so kahit sobrang iksi pa yan or wala ka na talagang buhok, I still love you."
Deanna wanted to cry at that time. Instead, she hugged Jema tighter. She was afraid of Jema leaving her and her statement made her love her more. She really is lucky to have her as her girlfriend.
She asked for strength, this is her strength. Her girlfriend. All she needs is a sign from the universe that she needs to be brave enough to tell her girlfriend.
Sunday morning, she went to the parlor shop to cut her hair.
"You're hair is long and it looks good on you, but why?" The hair dresser asked her while putting on the robe.
"New look? Fiercer? Braver?" She showed her desired hair cut.
"Hmm! I can already imagine it. It will look good on you. Okay, just stay there, relax and I can make you fierce and brave, in no time."
Hours later, she went home. She closed the door behind her and smiled at her girlfriend.
Her hair cut short, pixie cut.
Jema walked towards her, not breaking eye contact, brushed her hands on Deanna's hair.
"It's short." Jema said.
"Too short?" Deanna asked.
"Nah. And I think it's sexy and fierce." She slammed her onto the door.
