Twenty-Nine

"It's sir Edgar." Ate Ly said.

"What do we do?" Ate Den asked me. And then I realized they are looking at me.

"What?! Why are you looking at me?"

"Ikaw nag tawag saamin dito. We were basically Avengers and you assembled us." Bea said and Jia smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

Deanna was about to answer when it stopped ringing.

"Maybe it's accidental" Tots said. Then it rang again.

"So much for accidental." Ced said.

I stopped and think for a second. She was about to answer when I spoke. "Wait." They looked at me. "Put it on speaker phone. Deanna act cool. Okay, everybody, shush."

Deanna nodded at me and answered.

"Hi sir. Good evening. Sorry I wasn't able to answer the first call. I was with my friends."

"Hi Deanna. Oh are you still with them? I can call you back."

"No sir I was just leaving and going home."

"Can you come and meet me on the office now?"

We were looking at each other. What does he want?!

"Ahh now sir? We still have game tomorrow. Can't it wait until then?"

"It is about the game tomorrow, and no, it can't wait."

I was shaking my head no. This guy. He's very shady, and she want's to meet at this time of day.

Deanna was looking at me all worried. Then she looked at them.

"Okay sir. I will."

We were all shocked. I mouthed why?! at her.

"Thank you Deanna. Will wait for you." And then he hung up the phone.

"Why did you do that?!" Ate Ly asked.

"We need this, we might get answers from this."

"Paano kung may mangyari sayo?!" Ate Den said.

"Walang mangyayari saakin, I just told him I was with friends. If may mangyari, you guys know who I was with the whole time."

"She has a point." Bea said and Maddie was nodding.

"No Bei, it's dangerous!!" I exclaimed and Ate Ly and Ate Den agreed with me.

"Think for a second Jema." Maddie said. "Deanna has a point. Sir Edgar has this reputation na inaalagaan nya. He just can't waste that for whatever she wants to do with Deanna."

"Besides kung may gusto man syang gawin saakin, dapat ginawa na nya ke Ate Ly." Deanna approached me. "I will take care, if that's stopping you from agreeing to this. I will take care. I promise I'll be back in one piece."

"Aww!!" Bea cooed. "Aw." She exclaimed when Ate Den slapped her shoulders.

"Okay."

Deanna looked at Ate Ly and Ate Den before speaking. "If we are doing this, we gotta do it right."

"We are going with you." Bea suggested.

"Kakasabi ko lang Ate Bei, we should do it right."

"No no, I know. We are going with you, through that." Bea pointed to what Deanna has been holding since.

"You'll call us, while you were having conversation with him."

"What if there are guards? Or they let her surrender the phone?" Ced asked.
