Harry's POV
I stayed quiet starring at the black white ceiling lying on my bed covered with black sheets wondering what Elizabeth must be doing. I know it shouldn't matter to me or at least that's what people say... I know I left her but I left for good reasons. I know I also hurt her even more when I walked away.
God, why do I have to be so freaking stupid?!
I need to give Elizabeth some space; even though i know it's going to kill me in the process. She has moved on and I can't stop her, it wouldn't be fair to do so. Elizabeth has to realize on her own the type of guy he really is. I'm going to give her space but if something goes wrong I'll always be there for her. I love her and nothing is going to change that.
My mind is quickly pulled away from my unraveling thoughts when I heard a faint knock at my door before being clicked open.
"Hey Harry" Sophia greeted peering through the small opening of the door before opening it wider revealing Eleanor behind her.
"Hey" I replied faking a smile as I sat up.
"I heard you and Elizabeth talking earlier." Eleanor stated as she slowly made her way towards me. "How are you?" She asked shyly.
"Oh I'm wonderful!" I cheered sarcastically. "I am finally released from the demonic prick named Dominic. I show up in search to reunite with my one true love but it turns out she has completely forgotten about me and is now dating someone else." I said pursuing my lips together into a tight line.
Sophia sighed. "Harry I get why your upset, I would be too. But what did you expect I mean-" I scowl interrupting her.
"I was expecting to finally have the chance to be with the one person that I love Sophia without any disruptions!" I yelled feeling aggravated. Sophia looked at me a small glint of hurt flashed into her eyes. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you Sophia." I pause. "It's just... I'm so upset right now. I'm upset that I couldn't protect Ellie in the first place. I mean she died on my watch!" I yell throwing my hands in the air.
"I'm upset that I had to walk away from her because I had to follow orders that I did not want to do. I am upset with the fact that because of all of this I have become a different person. I know that the way that Elizabeth is acting towards me is rational because I know I have made her go through hell." I finished my voice sounding calmer than before.
"I deserve her hostility." I sigh running one of my hands through my hair.
"Harry" Eleanor spoke up in a soft quiet voice. I glance up to look at her; she had her arms crossed over her chest. " I must admit that your actions were not wise regardless of you thinking that it would keep Elizabeth safe. You have spent all this time worrying about wanting to keep her safe from Dominic and your world but... you don't realize that it's her world too."
I knitted my eyebrows together and glanced down at my hands before throwing my head back letting out a deep sigh. "What am I going to do?" I asked rubbing my hands over my face. This is my entire fault if I hadn't come into her life, her parents would still be alive and she would have a normal life.
"She would also be lonely." Eleanor added. I rolled my eyes.
"I really hate when you get in my head." I complain.
"Yea Elizabeth doesn't like it either which is why I stopped telling her that I was; even though I am. How the heck do you think I know how she feels?"
"Yea I know." I replied. "But it's still annoying."
"Anyways, as I was saying. I think you should stop wasting your time on trying to protect her from you and spend your time on trying to get her back."
Elizabeth's POV
"What did you do to your hair?!" Eleanor gasped as she approached me in the hallway.
"What you don't like it?" I asked nervously biting on my lower lip as I took a step forward and started walking. Eleanor scanned her eyes all over my hair.
"Well...it's a nice color. When did you do it?" She asked. "Why did you do it?" She added in a quiet voice.
"Yesterday, when I went out with Aaron." I smiled as we approached our classroom opening the door. "I don't know why I actually did it. I guess I just wanted a change."
I walked us towards the middle of the class room and sat down in an empty seat with Eleanor on my right side. As I placed my stuff on my desk glancing to the front of the class I saw Aaron walk down the aisle to the desk next to me.
"Hey." Aaron smiled leaning over and kissed my cheek before sitting down. "Hey, Eleanor" He smiled giving her a wave. Eleanor gave him a nod before opening up her textbook.
"You've got to be kidding me" I heard Eleanor whisper under her breath.
"What?" I whispered back turning my head to look at her. She jerked her head up motioning me to look forward. I knitted my eyebrows turning my head away from her to the front of the classroom and saw Harry sit down a few seats in front of Eleanor. I felt my jaw drop but quickly regained my composure.
"Great, just what I needed." I groaned under my breath keeping my eyes on Harry. He turned around to face us and I quickly looked down at my closed textbook.
"Hey Eleanor," Harry greeted.
"Hey" She relied in a sweet voice. I glanced up when Harry's eyes moved from Eleanor to me. His green eyes turned cold when he looked over at Aaron, sitting next to me, for a split second before softening glancing back at me.
"Hey, Ellie." He said placing both of his hands on the back of his chair, pursing his lips together.
"Don't call me that." I replied in a serious tone, shaking my head at him before turning my attention back onto my textbook. Aaron let out a small chuckle making me turn to look at him and he quickly wiped his smile off of his face. I rolled my eyes looking back down at my textbook hearing Eleanor sigh next to me and saw Harry slowly turn around in his seat in my peripheral vision. He has no right to call me Ellie. I really do not care if he was the one to give me the name. That nick name can only be used by my friends.
"Ellie, I think you should at least try to forgive him. " Eleanor whispered to me as we were all in the middle of class reading our assigned pages filling out worksheets.
"Why?" I whispered turning my head to look at her, gripping my pen. "I mean, I have forgiven him Eleanor. I told him the other day. I understand why he did what he did; however, I still have a right to be angry at him. You can't expect me to just run into his arms and pretend that everything is okay when it's not."
"Yea, I understand." Eleanor nodded." But it's just... I know you Elizabeth. I know you better than anyone, I can tell what you feeling remember? So I know that deep down you still care for him and-"
"Eleanor just stop" I complain holding my hands out spreading my fingers. "I appreciate what you are trying to do for me but whatever was between Harry and I is in the past."
Eleanor looked at me with sad hopeful eyes as the school bell rang in the background releasing us to go to lunch. I quickly gathered up my stuff and headed out the door before Harry could catch up to me and not wanting to here Eleanor defending Harry's side.
