Elizabeth’s POV

“So would you mind telling me why we are in an abandoned parking lot?” I ask Aaron as I held his hand following his friends. There were no cars in sight apart from ours and the parking lot was lit with flickering lights luckily the sun was still out in the horizon.

“We are here to have fun before we go and hang out at my brother’s house” Nick spoke up taking a box of cigarettes out of his jacket and lit up.

“And by fun you mean?”

“Ride these!” Mike said walking up next to me holding onto a shopping cart with Monica inside who was taking a sip out of a beer bottle. I smiled, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

“Um… I’m good. To be honest I don’t really do these types and- “  I gasp when I felt my feet being lifted off of the grey pavement.  “No, Aaron put me down!” I yell wrapping my arms around his neck so I wouldn’t fall. I hate being carried, I always feel like they might drop me.

“I will” He replied and placed me inside an empty shopping cart.

“This isn’t what I meant!” I said narrowing my eyes at him placing both of my hands on the side of the cart gripping onto the metal.

“Just go with it babe.” Aaron said and kissed my lips.

“But i-“

“Alright, here you go Aaron!” Mike smiled and tossed him a box of cigarettes.  I sigh and lean back watching Aaron take out two cigarettes before tossing the box back to Mike. Aaron placed the cigarette between his lips and cupped his hand on the other end flickering on the lighter, lighting up the cig.

I move my attention away from him and roll my eyes looking over at the sunset. There were a few clouds in the sky but you could still see the sun setting making the sky look a purple pinkish color with yellow and orange undertones. My attention was removed from the setting when I felt smoke go into my nose making me cough. I flick my hand in the air trying to remove the smoke away from my face.

“Here you go babe. Have a go” Aaron said blowing out the grey smoke from his mouth placing the lit up cig in front of my face. I frown and look up at him.

“No thanks” I reply in a curt tone.

“Awe, come on babe.” Aaron groans throwing his head back.” Try it.”

“No!” I scowl pushing his hand away tired of having the smell and smoke flowing into my nose.

“God, you don’t have to be a bitch about it” He says and places his cigarette back between his lips taking a drag. I scowl at him. “How do you know if you don’t like it if you have never tried it?”

I roll my eyes and take the cigarette, that he was handing me earlier, out of his hand and hesitantly press it between my lips and take a drag. I knit my eyebrows together at the unfamiliar taste.

“There, happy?” I scowl at him clenching my jaw handing the cigarette back to him. He shrugs and takes it.

“Whatever” He says and throws it onto the ground and places the other one back between his lips.
