Part Seven

Tom’s POV

“What?” is all I can say. I love Maria and Jude knows that. Jude is the perfect woman, but not for me. The only person I want to be with is Maria. She’s all I’ve ever wanted.

“I love you” she says, sounding even more nervous this time. I just look at her, in shock for a second.

“I’m with Maria. I love Maria” I tell her. I can feel myself shaking. Not because I’m nervous, but because I can feel my whole world crashing down. Jude is my best friend and whenever I’ve needed a shoulder to cry on, she’s been there, but I never wanted this to happen. I didn’t mean to lead her on. I thought she knew that nothing could ever happen between us, but I guess I was wrong.

“I know” she says, looking even more hurt than ever before.

“I’m sorry” I say, awkwardly, as I stand up to leave. I can’t stay here, with this happening. This is too much. I should be with Maria, the woman I love.

“Tom, wait. Please!” she calls after me, but I choose to ignore her and continue to my car.

Why did she have to tell me that? She knows full well that I would never have said those three words back to her. Sure she’s a great girl, but she needs to understand that we can never be together, I’m with Maria and she has a boy friend!

Jay’s POV

“I’m jut going out, Jay” Rheanna tells me, as she enters the living room.

“Good to know” I sigh. I really can’t be dealing with her and that stupid kid of hers. I know that might seem harsh, but after everything that she’s done, she’s lucky she’s even here. Not to mention the fact that she just takes advantage of Nathan all the time. He might not have the guts to stand up to her, but I do and I will not stand for her shit. She’s done enough damage already and now it’s finally started to heal, she’s come back to rip the wounds open all over again. You can’t even begin to image how happy I was when I found out that she’d gone off to Scotland, but now she’s back and ready to cause trouble again. I know it’s none of my business, but Nathan is my best friend and I can just see him getting hurt again and there’s nothing I can do about it, because he’s too forgiving.

“So I’ll see you later then?” she asks, sounding awkward and you know what, I couldn’t care less.

“Whatever” I sigh, as I try my hardest glue to the TV screen, so I won’t have to look at her. She disgusts me.

“bye” she sighs, before leaving. I don’t even bother to respond to that, I just continue to watch the TV.

About ten minutes later my phone starts to ring. I look at the caller ID, and there I see that it’s Siva.

“Hello?” I say, as I push the phone to my ear.

“Hey Jay” Siva sighs, sounding quite upset.

“Where are you?” I ask him, noticing the sound of running water in background.

“In the bathroom, why?” he sighs again. Yes, he is defiantly not happy.

“You’re not in the shower are you?” I ask him, unsure.

“No, I’ve just put the shower on so that Claire won’t hear our convocation” he says.

“Oh great now I feel like your dirty little secret” I laugh again, but still nothing.

“Listen, I don’t know what to do” he says and at that moment he sniffs. It sounds like he’s crying.

“Shit, Siva! What’ wrong?” I ask him, starting to panic.

“Claire got home and I asked her how her night was and she made up a load of rubbish about being with Renee and everyone, when we know she wasn’t. What am I going to do?” he asks and now he’s really sobbing.

“Don’t cry Siva. It’s going to be ok. I promise. What you have to do, is get out there and tell her how much you love her. You need to make her feel guilty” I tell him. It probably isn’t the best advice, but it’s the best I’ve got.

“Ok then. I’ll call you later. Thanks mate” Siva says, sniffing one last time, before hanging up the phone.

I really do feel sorry for him. He loves Claire more than anything in the world and everyone can see that. Even when all the drama was going on with Renee and Rheanna and everyone, those pair stuck by each other and proved to us all that there was hope and that it was possible to be happy. But now we know that even the most perfect relationships have secrets and issues. No relationship can be perfect.
