Max’s POV

I hate to think how Tom is feeling, but what can we do? It’s not like we can go in there and break him out of jail, it’s just not going to work and besides he might be found innocent. “Maybe we should go over to Jay’s and explain everything to him there and isn’t Siva staying there?” I ask Nathan. I know he said he wanted to wait until we saw them, but we don’t know when that’s going to be and lets face it, they need to know as soon as possible if Tom’s going to be up in court in a few days.

“Yeah, but Rheanna’s staying there too. Do we really want her knowing?” Nathan asks and I can tell his relationship with her is clouding his judgement. He just doesn’t trust her, but lets face it, she’s part of our group. She always was, whether she broke Nathan’s heart of not.

“Yes, of course we can. Who are she going tell and Rheanna has always been there for all of us. Well apart from when she was in Scotland, but she’s back now” I tell him.

“I suppose” he sighs. “So do you want to go over there now?”

“Yeah, we might as well. I’ll tell Becky that we’re just popping out and then we can head out” I tell him, as I make my way back into the living room, where Becky is sitting.

“What’s going on?” she asks me and I can tell she’s feeling slightly awkward, which is understandable.

“Nothing, me and Nathan just need to take care of something. We’ll be back soon” I tell her, with a weak smile, but she doesn’t return it. She just looks away.

“We off then?” Nathan asks, as he walks through the living room and towards the door.

“Yeah, I’ll see you in a bit Becky. I will be back soon, I promise. Make your self at home” I tell her and I have to admit, it feels a bit weird leaving her alone in my house. I’ve just stolen her away from her boyfriend and now I’m acting like I don’t even care about her. I suppose I will just have to make it up to her later.

I walk to the door and as I finally reach it, I take one last look at Becky, who seems to be on the phone. I feel really guilty for doing this, but I suppose it has to be done. After all Tom is my best friend and he’s in trouble.

“Come on Max” Nathan calls from his car. I step out of the door, closing the door behind me. I walk over to the car, where I get into the passenger seat and Nathan pulls the car away from the drive.

“Do you think they’ll believe that Tom killed someone?” I ask, awkwardly.

“No, why would they? They know Tom just like we do and he we know he would never do something like that. Tom wouldn’t hurt a fly” Nathan replies, but he doesn’t sound so sure. Maybe he doubts it himself.

It’s not long before we find ourselves outside Jay’s house. The lights are on and the cars are there, so he must be in. I look at Nathan, before climbing out of the car. He looks nervous. I shut the car door and then I make my way up the path and towards the house, with Nathan following me. I knock on the door several times before the door finally opens.

“Hey” Rheanna says with a smile, she then looks at Nathan and her smile slowly fades.

“You alright?” I smile. I have to admit I have missed her. She might have been a pain in the arse, but she was one of my best friends. Even after everything she’s been through, she’s still the same person. She’s caring and funny, most people wouldn’t be if they’d been dragged through the horrors that she has.

“Yeah, I’m great thanks, come in” she says, as she moves out of the door way to let us in. I walk in and make my way into the living room, where I find Leo playing with his toys on the carpet. “They’re in the kitchen” Rheanna calls from the hall way.
