I prepare myself to fall to my death.. when suddenly.. I don't fall anymore.
Wait what?
'I got you.. I got you.. dammit Calum.'
I look up to see Levi holding my wrist.
'Are you going to dislocated it before I die?' I ask nervously.
'Give me your other hand.' 'How?'
'Just like the movies Calum.. just like the movies.'Somehow I make it work and he pulls me up.
'Are you alright?'
I feel my eyes water up.
'Shh,' he rubs my cheek with his thumb, 'it's alright.. you're safe now.. for now at least.'
'Wh.. t.. h.. What just happened?'
'You almost died, come on we need to get down before the rest of the building collapses.''Why did you save me?' I ask.
'You saved me, I saved you.. seems fair right? Just don't make me regret it.'He starts climbing.. walking.. I don't even know what he's doing.
He's trying to get to the right side of the building since that's still standing straight.'Calum are you coming?' 'Yes.'
I try to follow him.. somehow I seem to move a lot slower than usual.
He waits for me and even gives me a hand to help.
'Calum you're bleeding.' 'What?'
'You're covered in glass and when I pulled you out I think you were cut in your side,' he explains.
'Well.. more reason to get out of here quickly.. besides you're bleeding as well,' I respond. 'Am I?' 'Yea.'The stairs are somehow still decently intact and luckily we only need to go down three sets of stairs.
'Levi I,' I sit down on the last step as I throw my head back, 'I can't anymore.' 'We're almost there.. don't give up.'
I get up again with a big sigh.
'Let me help you.'
He places my arm around his neck and wraps an arm around me to support me.
Slowly but surely we make our way out of the building.
Immediately Felix run towards me.
'Calum you're crazy you know that!'
'I.. got everyone out.. even the enemy.'
I hear Levi snigger.
'Let's go to the ambulance.. both of you.''
'Hey.' Someone sits down next to me. 'Hi,' I reply. We're both sitting on a small wall.
'Have they taken care of you already?' He asks tiredly. 'Yes.. you?'
'They just finished.''Calum lets keep what happened a secret.' 'A lot of things happened.. what exactly?' I respond. 'The kiss.'
'I wasn't planning on telling people that,' I say with a small chuckle.
'Good,' he sighs, 'Thanks for coming back for me Calum.'
'Thanks for not letting me die.'He pets my back. 'It's nice knowing you, you're an alright fella.'
He stands up. 'I better head home now, see you around.' 'Bye.''Wait,' he turns back around, 'Don't throw away your Jacket.' 'Why?'
'See you around Calum,' he repeats.Rose takes this opportunity to sit down next to me instead.
'He seems to like you.. weirdly enough.' 'What do you mean?' I ask.
'He only talks to you and he helped you get out right?' She states.
'It's weird to me that he can be either just a normal person or the most fucked up you can imagine.'
'He probably just knew he wouldn't get away from here if he left you behind or he was just tired.. he seemed tired.' 'Could be.''Does my father know this happened?'
'He's on his way I believe.'
'To see the damage?' I reply.
'Probably.''Cub.' I look up to see Felix.
'Cub?' I repeat.
'Yeah you know puppies for lions?'
'That's the worst explanation I've heard so far,' I laugh, 'Why are you calling me cub?'
'Just a nickname since you're new and I.. I respect you.'
'Thanks.'He sits down on the other side of me.
'Did you pull the fire alarm?' 'Yeah.'
'You could've told me he placed a bomb.. you know,' he states.
'He didn't place it.'
'Who else could've done it?'
'Daniel,' I answer.
'Daniel? Are you sick Calum?!'I stand up.
'Look you don't have to believe me, but he went out for lunch at four and a few minutes later it exploded.'
'It's just.. Daniel is so high up.'
'That's why he could pull this off.''Anyway,' I put on my jacket and grab my bag, 'I'm going home.'
'Aren't you going to wait for your father?' Rose asks confused.
'I don't think he wants to see me.'
'Why is that?' 'Just a feeling.'I walk away from the place and pass the numerous amount of press.
I ignore their questions and walk towards my car that's parked just a couple blocks away.My reflection in the car is the first time I get to take a proper look at myself. I stare at myself in disbelief for a few seconds before getting my keys.
I reach in my bag but can't find them.. you got to be kidding me.
I check the pockets of my jacket.. they're in there. I pull them out and notice a piece of paper whirling down.
I duck down to grab it and take it with me in the car.
There's a phone number written on it.. should I just.. call it?
It's worth a try right?I grab my phone.. somehow it isn't broken, I did expect that.
The phones rings for a while.
'Uh.. who's this?' I ask carefully.
'You called me.'I recognise his voice immediately and I think he recognised mine as well since he's laughing.
'You're quick for once.'
'You shouldn't have put it next to my keys if you didn't want me to find it,' I mutter back in response.
'I wanted you to find it. I assume you're in your car?' 'Yes.'
Are you driving?' 'No.''Look Calum.. this is my personal number. Call me, text me or don't. Just don't leak it.'
'Why would you give me this?' I ask suprised. 'I don't really know.'With that he ends the call.
