'I can't do this Gray, I don't know how to and I can't get it over my heart to hurt her.'
I explained the situation to him since he promised to help me.
'How strong is she?' 'Grayson!'
'No seriously, how strong is she.'
'Mentally or physically?' 'Both.'
'Without a gun she isn't the biggest fighter, then again I'm not even a good fighter with a gun and mentally.. I don't know, strong I guess,' I reply.
'Hm.. I know a way Levi uses, but I'm not sure you'll be able to do that.'I stare up at the slightly taller boy next to me.
'Torture.' 'No!' 'That's what I thought,' he sighs, 'I just don't know an other way.' 'Why does he want me to do it?'
'Because she means something to you, he wants a sacrifice.. to see if you would give up anyone for him.'
'I would, but he needs to understand I can't do something like this!'My hand goes through my hair as an attempt to think.. I can't think.
'Maybe back in the base someone has an idea. Are you willing to come with me to find out?'
'Will I leave that place?'
'Yes, Levi put me and Lilith in second command, just in case he.. would be.. missing one day.'
'That doesn't mean I'll get out.'
'Cally, you're our only way to get Levi back, you're useful.'
'Like I'm not..' a cough leaves my throat, 'not worth anything otherwise.'He walks to his front door.
'Are you coming or not?'
'It will make Sky sad.'I pet the big ball of fluff next to me to proof my point.
'Come on fucker, you want Levi back as well right?'
I nod, stand up and walk behind Grayson to his car.
'You do understand I'll need to blindfold you right?' 'Yeah.. go ahead.'
'Normally you would've struggled.'
'I miss him Gray, I want to get him out of there as quickly as possible.''
The blindness makes me nauseous though.. it never did, but right now I had difficulty holding it in.
'Can we stop for a second?'
'Uhm.. that isn't really an opportunity why?' 'I feel like I need to throw up.'
'Oh.. uhm.. we're almost there uh.. I don't think you'll recognise our location at this point uhm.. you can take off the blindfold if that would help, there's a plastic bag somewhere back there just in case.'
'I'm sorry it isn't your driving, I don't know what it is,' I reply.
'Calum it's fine I don't expect you to betray us twice.' 'Would be my death.'
'Probably.''
This building was smaller than the other one but twice as beautiful.
It was a decently sized family home in the middle of nowhere.
A calm place with a scenery I would be happy to be found death in.'It's lovely isn't it?
'I stood here staring at it for quite a while the first time I saw it.'
'How does he afford things like this? I know he transports things and stuff, but that can't earn him this much.'
'It does actually, how higher the risk how more he will get and we get quite a few donations.'
'Donations?' 'People support his research and buy themselves an antidote this way,' he explains.
'Is there an antidote already?'
'For older types yes, in case someone got infected during research.'
'How does that work?'He sighs and starts walking.
'You're asking a lot of questions and that's not what we're here for.
Come on.' 'I have questions.'
'Save them for Levi,' he replies.
'If he'll like me again someday.'
'He will, head up and smile.'
'I never been the positive type.'
'Doesn't mean you shouldn't try to fight at all.'He leads me inside and we pass a few rooms until I get put of guard by someone screaming.
'Calum,' he places his hand on my back pushing me forward, 'keep walking.' 'Who's screaming?'
'Some random woman Levi wanted us to capture and test on, that's it.'
'Why is she screaming?'He sighs and stops in his tracks.
'He really hates her.. let's just keep it at that.'
'Grayson why is she screaming?!'
'Fuck it I'll show you.'He basically drags me over to the place she's being held captive.
The room strongly smells of iron and the lack of light is making it hard to see a thing.
The light flicks on making a figure appear in the far back corner of the case of iron bars before us.
Her head shoots up looking directly into my eyes.
I take a step backwards before running out the room.. well that was the plan.. but Grayson stops me and pulls me back.
'Calum?' Her voice is hoarse.
Everywhere you looked you would find blood or wounds.. she was beaten up so badly.
'Calum get me out of here.'
Her eyes were bloodshot red and kept staring at mine while limping over to the bars.
'Get.. me.. out.. of here.'
I try to get away once again just to be yanked back again.
'Face the other side of Levi.'
'No that isn't it..' 'Calum if you don't get me out of here between now and a few hours I'll make sure you'll have to face me again.. two times every week,' she pauses to take a quick breath, 'You'll be my last patient of the day and you'll leave way pass your bedtime.. bruised and broken.'Gray grabbing some kind of nunchucks districts me.
'Are you done trying to blackmail him or do I need to show you what will happen when you continue?'
The handles are firmly pressed inside his hands as he takes a step forward.
She dashes backwards shaking her head violently.
'Good, come Calum we're going to take you home.' 'But..'
'He's going to be there for a while you have enough time.'
