Story Behind Liempo

Love is magical. That’s why I believed in pero minsan talaga, we have to let go of the past to be able to see what the future holds. Sabi nga sa economics, the cost of something is what you give up to get it. Sometimes, its hard but people face trade offs, meaning, we have to make a decision.

Madalas, ang connotation sa ibang relationships is sya na talaga, or sana sya na. Guys would tell girls na ikaw na pakakasalan ko and then in the end, get their hearts broken. But let me tell you this. Sometimes, if you both parted ways, that doesn’t mean you won’t see each other again, we just have to let ourselves grow as an individual to be able to mature and make more reliable decisions. Gasgas man, sabi nga ng mga nakatatanda, Kung kayo talaga, kayo. And that’s true. I personally know a lot of people who parted ways but in the end got back together. God will find a way but for now, we have to know our priorities and with that, your family and yourself should be on the top list. Parents work hard for their kids, some has broken families, some might’ve lost theirs but we all have our family to call even though it does not consist of a mother or a father. Tulad ni Jerich, Denise at Alfred na laging nandyan kay Angelie. They are family.

Some people would fight until their last breath, some naman would let go kung alam na nilang hindi na nagwowork out but at the end of the day, its your decision to make and whatever that may be, we have to stand up to it. For students like me, we have to know na dapat, pagigihin natin sa pagaaral. Maraming distractions along the way, pwedeng lovelife, pwede namang other kinds of challenges like friends, family etc. pero let us be strong and have faith in God. J

 

BEHIND THE STORY OF LIEMPO.

Liempo is my very first tagalog novel, kasi originally, English writer ako but some of you might be wondering paano nagsimula ang liempo.

It all started with a project ng younger sister ko sa English nung highschool, nagapapagawa sya saakin ng outline and I made her one pero hanggang dun lang. after that, sya na nagpatuloy and pinasa nya. Of course, nagkagrade na sya, at grumaduate na din sya and after some time, nakalkal ko ulit yung liempo outline sa laptop ko and that’s where it all started.

Liempo kasi… kasi gutom kami. Kasi paborito yun ng mga kaibigan ko, at masarap lang iimagine. :D yun lang po ang dahilan kaya liempo ang title. Yung settings nyan, inspired around university belt and since sumasakay ako ng LRT araw araw, why not write the same set up diba? Sinadya ko din po palang hindi ilagay ang pangalan ng schools para mas maging creative lahat sa pagiimagine, saan talaga nagaaral sila Mike at Angelie. Oh diba? Epek epek ko pa. haha.

Marami sainyo nagtatanong, nagtataka, sino nga ba si Angelie, at sino si Mike.

Well, ito lang po ang sagot ko, totoo silang tao.

Pero, hindi sila iisa.

What do I mean by this?

Liempo is a compilation of story of different people with different experiences. So basically, halos lahat ng pangyayari sa liempo ay totoo and for those of you wondering if may experience ako dyan, yes, meron po. In fact, madami din, one might be that night during their event sa isang hotel though the difference was, syempre, walang Mike na sumundo saakin and that’s a whole different thing na.

Behind each lines, lies a message unsaid. And Liempo serves as a tool na maybe, one day, mabasa ito ng mga taong kasama sa casts dito na hindi din nila alam.

Si Angelie, may katangian ako na parehas ni Angelie and maybe yung ugali nya in terms of pagiging logical, sa pagkaobsessed naman sa org, isa yun sa best friends ko ngayong college and sa mga boyfriend experiences, best friend ko din ang inspiration ko dun, yung mga nararanasan nya and other words she utter, it came from other girls with same experiences and sa pagkakasakit nya, yes, I know someone who had the same experience kaya isinaman ko din dito.

Si Mike. Of course, partly, kathang isip si Mike. My Gad. Ikaw ba naman magkaboyfriend ng uber perfect na tulad nya, Heaven na, wag lang kasing ungas nya. But still, his attitude? The way he acts and treats people, iba’t ibang tao din yan, iba’t ibang guy perspectives. Mahirap magisip bilang lalaki knowing na babae ako kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat ako sa mga friends ko na kahit alastres na ng madaling araw, natatawagan ko pa din para lang magtanong anong dapat gawin ni Mike sa susunod na chapter. Yung mga baliw kong katropa na bago muna nila sagutin yung tanong ko, paligoy ligoy muna akong lolokohin at kung kalian magwawalk out na ako, saka magsasalita ng maayos. Salamat.

Salamat po sainyo. Sainyo na nagbabasa nito at dun din sa mga from the very beginning, talagang sinubaybayan yung 100 years kong update. If it weren’t for you, siguro Liempo would remain unfinished. Kung hindi nyo naman po kasi nagustuhan, hindi ko itutuloy to pero dahil nandyan kayo na sumusuporta, nagawa ko syang matapos. Liempo din ang nagging outlet ko through good and bad times, andaming lessons na naituro saakin and upon reading each line, lalo kong minamahal ang buhay. GRABE LANG TALAGA. Sobrang saya ko.

I tried my best to make each part realistic, relatable and of course, may aral din na matutunan. Sana po magustuhan nyo yung ginawa kong ending and for those pala na nagaadd saakin sa fb, sorry if di ko kayo naaccept pero I have another account in which nakalink naman sa information ko sa isa ko pang fb. Doon, pwede nyo koi add and kausapin, bombard me with questions, okay lang. J

After this ending, di ko na alam what will happen next either I’d make another one, yung Writer’s Story nga na ginawan ko ng teaser, or just stop for a while. Mamimiss ko lang din yung mga times na tadtad ako ng mga messages and text na magupdate na ako. Well, ganun talaga but the bottom line is, super thank you for being there for me.
