Chapter 27 | Plans

Tenten told the rest of her friends about Aito, and they supported her, although many of them threatened to beat his ass if he ever hurt her in any way. I have amazing friends, she thought with a chuckle. Saturday, the day before the current day, she and him had gone on another casual date. He seemed like a good person.

The current day, Sunday, was the day Ino had plans to announce. So, she ordered the entire group to meet at a restaurant. Once everyone gathered at the table, Ino announced, "For Thanksgiving, I'm hosting dinner at my parents' house. They're out of the country for the entire month, so the house will be empty. Can you all come?"

In the end, everyone decided to come to the dinner. The girls offered to help Ino prepare everything, so it was decided that in two days they'd start with grocery shopping.

The girls got into Ino's car, and she drove them all to the grocery store. It was a massive supermarket filled with a lot of food.

"So, what do we get?" Sakura asked, leaning against the cart. 

Temari shot her a look. "Please don't ride the cart. We don't want what happened last time."

The pinkette rolled her eyes in reply. "Don't worry, I won't."

Ino was busy rummaging through her purse, and she finally pulled out a folded piece of paper in triumph. "Found it! Here's the shopping list." She began reading off each ingredient and kitchen equipment they needed.

Turkey stuffing

Turkey sewing needle thingey and thread (to sew up it's ass/neck or whatever you do)

Any spices unavailable at the house

Frozen pie because we're not pro chefs

Different greens for a salad

Salad dressing

Yeast in case it's unavailable at the house

Butternut squash (because that soup is delicious)

Fresh herbs

Asparagus

Fifteen festive Thanksgiving cloth napkins

Cranberries

Ham

Bacon

Brussel sprouts

Sweet potatoes

Anything else that we see and decide we might need

The ingredients were printed down on the paper, and Ino reached into her purse and pulled out four more copies. "These are all labelled. Sakura takes section one. Hinata, two. Temari, three. Tenten, four. Me, five. Section six is random stuff you feel like grabbing. Got it?"

They all nodded, getting their own carts and heading off in separate directions.

Tenten examined her section of the list, section four.

Butternut squash (because that soup is delicious)

Fresh herbs

Asparagus

Fifteen festive Thanksgiving cloth napkins

Cranberries

Ham

Bacon

"Hmm, shouldn't be too hard to find," She murmured, starting off by heading towards the produce section. Since the supermarket was so large, she asked an employee where the butternut squash was. After they pointed her in a direction, she thanked them and pushed the cart that way. Soon she had two squash in the cart. Fresh herbs was also in the produce section, something she could find fairly easily. They were in plastic containers the side of the average hand. She decided on a container of basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and a few more different types of herbs. Asparagus was also in the area, as were fresh cranberries. The ham and bacon was in a completely different section, so it took her a while to maneuver her way through the supermarket to find that. Lastly was the cloth napkins, which she eventually found all the way across the building. They were orange with embroidered leaf and pumpkin patterns. Festive enough, she though, shrugging as she tossed three packs of six napkins in the cart.

Taking out her phone, Tenten texted Ino, telling her that she had finished finding the stuff for her section of the list. Ino replied, telling her to meet on the far right of the store, where there were self-checkout areas. The platinum blonde and Hinata were standing their with their carts when Tenten arrived, and the three began checking out their items. Sakura and Temari soon arrived with their carts, scanning the items, placing everything into bags and then placing it all into one cart. 

The items were loading into Ino's car, brought to the house, and put into the refrigerator. Ino showed them around, pointing out where the cooking utensils were and where everything else was stored. They didn't need to marinate a turkey, since the turkey they bought was pre-marinated, saving them time.

Now, all they had to do was meet the next day, when the cooking preparations would begin.
