"So, what do you want to do?" Tenten asked as she patted her wet hair with a towel. She felt too lazy to blow dry her hair, unlike Neji, who had just finished blow drying his hair and combing it so that it looked pristine and perfect. In her opinion, due to the temperature outside, her hair would dry fairly quick.
Neji gave a shrug in reply, checking his watch he now wore. (A/N: Hehe guess where it came from :3). "It's 7:03 in the evening right now, I guess we can go eat something," He said.
They had spent most of the day on the beach along with the rest of the group members. After that, they hung out in the room for an hour or two.
"Ok," Tenten replied, putting her phone, room card, wallet, and a pair of sunglasses in her purse. She then slipped her feet into a pair of sandals before following Neji out the door, shutting it behind her. Then, a question popped in her head. "Where do we eat though?"
"I've got that covered," Neji replied simply, taking out his phone. He opened the Uber app and entered an address before selecting a few things. After a few minutes, an Uber came and they got into the car.
Tenten was curious as to where they were headed. "Neji, where are going?" She asked.
"You'll see," Was all he said.
During the ride, they exchanged a few words with the driver, but other than that it was silent. Around ten minutes passed, and the Uber stopped in front of a tall building. The two thanked the driver before getting out of the car and stepping onto the sidewalk. Neji and Tenten entered the building, a waitress greeting them.
Neji exchanged a few words with her before she lead them through the building and through double glass doors. There was an outside dining area, the floor sort of like a platform, and past that was shimmering water reflecting the city. The sky was beginning to darken, allowing the city lights to be seen. The sun was setting across the water and the sky was filled with beautiful hues of color.
Tenten felt slightly underdressed at the sight of the place. She had on a pair of navy blue, denim shorts and a plain red t-shirt. Her hair wasn't combed, let alone fully dry yet. She took a look around, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw that most people eating there weren't dressed very formal or anything.
The waitress lead the two to a table, setting down two menus before asking with a smile, "What drinks can I get you two today?" Neji ordered a glass of tea and Tenten ordered a glass of ice water. The waiter nodded, writing down their drink orders before walking off.
"This place is just...wow," Tenten breathed as she sat down, admiring the sight of the beautiful water. A few palm trees grew near the water, their leaves gently swaying in the breeze. Her eyes glanced down at the table. It was made of a smooth material, a single candle resting in the center. A plate sat in front of both her and Neji, with a folded napkin laying on it. There was a place mat under the plate, utensils laying on either side.
"The food here is good," Neji explained.
"You've been to Miami before?" Tenten asked.
Neji gave a nod in reply, taking a menu from the table. After opening it and taking a glance, he looked up at the brunette sitting across from him. "So, tell me a little about yourself."
Tenten was surprised at his question. "What do you mean?" She asked, her brows creasing slightly in confusion.
The Hyuga gave a rare, genuine smile, causing her heart to flutter. "I want to know more about you," He explained.
"Hmm," Tenten though for a moment, placing a finger on her chin. Neji couldn't help but notice how adorable she looked that way. "Well," She began, "I love anything to do with weapons. I find them fascinating. Katanas, kunai, shuriken, and so on. And, I'm interested in martial arts stuff. Also, I love horror movies. Anyways, tell me a little about you," The brunette grinned as she scanned a menu.
"Well, I'm also interested in martial arts. I enjoy romance movies and anything Shakespeare. My most preferred music genre would be classical," Neji replied.
Tenten raised an eyebrow. The waitress came back with their drinks, setting them down next to their plates. "Are you two ready to order?" She asked. The two nodded, so she took out a notebook and pen from her waist apron's pocket.
Neji and Tenten gave the waitress their orders and then she walked away. The two sat in peaceful silence and examined the waterfront view while waiting for their food. Once the food arrived, they ate quietly. The food there was absolutely delicious.
After they finished eating and paid, they left the restaurant. The sky was completely dark by now, but lights from buildings illuminated the city.
"What do we do now?" Tenten asked.
Neji gave her another heart-melting smile. "There is an ice cream place a few blocks from here, would you like to go there?"
"I'd love to," Tenten replied happily. She loved ice cream.
When they got the ice cream shop, she ordered chocolate ice cream and Neji ordered vanilla. The two then sat across from each other at a round table outside the shop with their ice cream.
Tenten put a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth, closing her eyes and savoring the creamy, chocolaty flavor.
"I'm guessing chocolate is your favorite ice cream flavor?" Neji asked, looking at her intently.
"Yep," She replied, opening her eyes. "Is yours vanilla?" The Hyuga gave a nod in reply, bringing a spoonful of ice cream to his mouth. Amusement glimmered in Tenten's eyes as she scooped a spoonful of ice cream from his bowl and ate it.
"Hey!" Neji exclaimed, a surprised scowl painting his expression. He rolled his eyes before stealing a spoonful from her bowl in return.
Tenten gave a playful pout, this time causing Neji's heart to flutter. Why must she act so adorable?
That's how they ended up sharing their ice cream while chatting and laughing off. It almost seemed to them like...a date. Not just two project partners and a requirement. But both of them pushed the thought of it away.
Once they finished their ice cream, Neji used the Uber app again. They stood on the sidewalk in silence, watching the cars pass by. The city was far from silent, with the sound of cars driving by, horns honking, and the chatter of people out during the late night. It was bustling with life. There were many lights too, from the headlights of cars to the glowing windows of buildings. After standing on the sidewalk for a few minutes, an Uber arrived, picking them up and dropping them back at the hotel.
"Thank you," Tenten told Neji as the two got in the hotel elevator. She gave a grin, "Today was fun."
Neji gave a nod in agreement before he pressed the button to their floor. The two walked back to their room in comfortable silence.
