"We can end the practice once Halloween is over, I guess," Neji replied.
"Yeah," Tenten mumbled.
They were silent for an awkward moment. "Would you like to go out for dinner?" Neji asked.
Tenten nodded. "Ino said to meet in her dorm at 7:30 so I guess we have around an hour," She said, checking the time on her phone, which read 6:20. The brunette then grabbed a shirt and skirt and went into the bathroom to change.
The two didn't talk as they got in the elevator. They got into Neji's car and sat wordlessly as Neji started the car. When they parked at the restaurant, the two still hadn't uttered a single word. Only when they got in the restaurant did Neji say, "Table for two," Which was directed towards the waitress, who tried to unsuccessfully catch his attention. She had too much lipstick on and way too much makeup, in Tenten's opinion. She was also very, very flirty.
Once they sat down at a booth, Tenten spoke up. "So, um..." She began awkwardly, not knowing what to say towards the Hyuga. "That waitress..."
"Could possibly be Ami in disguise," Neji muttered. "Why do women always flirt with me anyways? It's so irritating."
"Maybe because you're a good looking, too-gorgeous man that just happens to-" Tenten abruptly snapped her mouth shut, realizing what she said.
Neji gave a smirk. "Oh so you think I'm good looking?"
Tenten muttered incoherent words to herself before replying, "That's what the fangirls think."
"Is that what you think?" Neji asked, smirking even more.
"I refuse to tell you what I think. We are simply friends, nothing more. As friends, I feel like it's not appropriate to comment on such things," Tenten replied.
"Oh, so you're friendzoning me?"
"Damn you Hyuga, we weren't dating in the first place! We are just friends, yes. You don't have feelings for me, and I don't have feelings for you," Tenten muttered, exasperated.
"I see."
A waiter came towards their table. To Neji's relief, the flirtatious waitress was nowhere to be seen. To Tenten's dismay, the waiter began flirting with her. "So, what can I get you sweetheart?" He asked, winking at the brunette.
Tenten was irritated at the man. He just saw her and he was already flirting? Geez, he must be desperate. She wondered if this was how Neji felt every time someone threw themselves at him. "Just an iced water," Tenten told the waiter, who nodded before asking if she wanted anything else. She had a strong urge to say, "not you", but instead she turned towards Neji. "Neji, what do you want?"
"A cup of hot tea," He told the waiter, who completely jutted the order down onto his notepad but completely ignored him otherwise. Instead, he lingered near Tenten, winking at her and making some dumb joke about the Eiffel tower and Paris which Neji couldn't fully eavesdrop on.
When he made a startling joke about peanut butter and legs to the brunette, Neji decided he had enough. "Excuse me sir, but my girlfriend and I would like our drinks please." The waiter scowled, glaring at him before walking off to finally do his job.
Tenten felt sort of thrilled at being called his girlfriend, for some reason she didn't understand. Perhaps it was the fact that the word had the power to make the flirty waiter leave. She was quite disgusted by the last joke he had made, which had very wrong meanings embedded in his words. I mean, tell me how "your legs are nice and smooth and easy to spread like peanut butter" doesn't sound wrong?
The waiter came back a few minutes later, half-slamming Neji's cup of tea onto the table before smiling sweetly at Tenten and setting her glass of iced water delicately on the table. She chuckled at Neji's irritated face once the waiter had left. "Jealous, huh?" She asked.
