Chapter 30 | The Project

Note: I don't know if I've said this before (I have bad memory lol), but Coronavirus thankfully does NOT exist in this book, although it takes place in present-time.

Tenten took a seat, plopping her bag on the ground beside her. As usual, their sensei was late. After over five minutes of waiting, the door opened and a silver haired man stepped inside, a mask covering three-fourths of his face and his eye focused on the orange book he held in front of him. Kakashi Hatake, their English teacher. All of Konoha 12 was in the class, plus Temari, Gaara, and Kankuro. Unfortunately, Karin and Ami along with some of their friends were in the class as well. 

"Good day class, I ran into a cat stuck in a-"

"Liar!" Multiple people shouted.

Kakashi scratched the back of his head sheepishly before going behind his desk and taking a seat, closing the book and setting it down on the surface of the desk. "You all are required to do a project," He announced.

Many began asking what the project is.

He continued, "The project is a two week vacation to Miami, Florida in America. Konoha University will pay for plane tickets and the hotel you'll be staying at. The point of this project is to test your knowledge of the English language and your communication skills with everyone. Food is included at the hotel during breakfast hours, but you'll need to manage lunch and dinner on your own, which you'll have to pay for yourself. You will have a partner for this project, and you will be doing most of your activities with your partner. You don't need to do every single thing with them, however, since I am aware that a lot of you have friends in this class that you like spending time with. Once the vacation is over, the two of you will be required to write a seven page essay on everything you did throughout the two weeks."

A murmur ran through the room.

Kakashi coughed, silencing them. "Your partner will be either your roommate or, depending on the situation, another person in this class, and that is if your roommate is in this class. If you don't have a roommate in this class you'll just get a random partner." He opened a drawer and took out a laptop, taking a minute to do some things. "I've sent everyone one of you an email that includes who your partner will be and some basic things about this project. It's quite simple, really, and I've pretty much told you guys everything you need to know already."

Tenten took out her laptop, opening her email. Of course, she was paired with Neji. Great, I'll have to be stuck with him for two weeks, she thought with an inward sigh.

"Last thing," Kakashi announced, "Is that this project will start on the Wednesday after Christmas. Enjoy the rest of your day, class."

After the class, Tenten and the girls gathered at the cafe on the second floor of the college building, their usual girls-only meeting spot. Sakura was scowling and Hinata was twiddling her two pointer fingers, something she did when she was nervous.

"I can't believe I have to be stuck with Sasuke for two weeks!" Sakura cried out in frustration, smacking her head with her hand.

"I'm with N-Naruto," Hinata whispered.

Ino was practically bursting with joy, and she squealed, "MY SHIPS ARE COMING TRUEEEEE!"

"Shut up you pig!" Sakura growled, "Hinata and Naruto, sure, but I'm probably with Sasuke because Naruto is his roommate and Hinata is my roommate."

"I'm with Shika," Temari said.

This caused the platinum blonde to wink. "Remember to keep the noise level down in your room, if you get what I mea-"

"Shut up Ino!" Temari snapped, blushing in embarrassment.

Tenten shrugged, muttering, "I'm with Neji, although it's not much of a surprise. He's my roommate anyways."

"Wait, then who's Ino-pig with?" Sakura asked, frowning. "If Temari is with Shikamaru-"

"I'm with Chouji," Ino explained, "He's a chill dude. We've been friends since childhood, so, it won't be awkward or anything."

The girls nodded in understanding. Only Temari and Ino seemed positive about the project, while the other girls were either pissed off or really, really nervous. Well, one thing's for sure, Tenten thought. This project is going to be interesting.
