*1 week later - Saturday*
I head downstairs for breakfast, rubbing my eyes. I've only really just woken up.
Hayden is the only one sitting at the table, eating some toast. He looks up at me and grins. The other two are obviously still in bed - Jase normally sleeps till noon and Joe stays in his room until he's hungry.
Mum is at work, and I'm not that surprised to see Tia in charge of the food. She's got her hair in her usual ponytail today.
Tia: Morning! Do you want cereal, toast or a bacon sandwich? Oh, and I've made you some coffee!
I notice the cup of goodness, placed on the table waiting for me. I go to sit down opposite my brother.
Me: Thanks Tia, and I think I'll have some toast please.
Tia: Sure thing! (grabs the loaf of bread, taking two slices out and popping them in the toaster)
Hayden: Good morning, what's the plan for today?
Me: (sips coffee) Too early to decide.
Tia: Well, I'm going into town to do a bit of shopping. You're free to come.
Me: It's okay, I think today is a lazy day for me. What bout you Hayden?
Hayden: Coursework. Boring, I know.
Tia: So it IS true that college gives you just as much work as school. Here I was hoping it'd be more relaxing.
Hayden: Trust me, it's FAR from relaxing.
Me: You shouldn't worry about it anyway. You're only in year 8.
Tia: (shrugs) True. But look how fast it's gone for you.
She butters the toast, then places the plate in front of me.
Me: Thanks. (smiles)
Tia: No worries.
Hayden: You would do well in a cafe, Tia.
Tia: Really? Maybe I should look for a job? Y'know, so I can earn a bit of money, be a bit more independent.
Me: It's up to you. But if you do, and you need some kind of reference, I'll gladly do that for you.
She beams at me.
Tia: Thanks Em! That is so kind of you!
Me: (smiles) You're my cousin, you act very mature for your age. You really would do great in a cafe or something.
Hayden: Plus, you're very cheerful and sociable. Two major bonuses.
Tia: I try my best.
*Later*
Tia: Here, I got you something from town.
We're in my bedroom, and Tia has just come back from her shopping trip. She's holding a bag with the words 'Top Shop' on it.
Me: Awe, you didn't have to.
Tia: (shrugs) I wanted to. Here.
I take the bag off her and I pull out a cute little black dress, with silver beads around the neck line. I then realise there's also a pair of black heels, with shiny, silver gems around the front.
Tia: Do you like them? I think you look really stunning in black.
Me: They're beautiful. Awe Tia, thank you.
