*Back to my pov*
Normally at dinner, there will be a lot of discussion. Not tonight. Mum is still pissed off with Joe, and Joe is pissed off with mum grounding him. Plus Hayden is absent - normally he fills up the silence.
While we're finishing our spaghetti and meatballs - Tia clears her throat.
Tia: Nicholas phoned me earlier.
Mum: Oh? How is he? Does he know how your mum is?
Tia: (shakes head) No. He's not in contact with her. But he's fine... He wants to spend time with me tomorrow.
I look up from my plate - so does Jase.
Mum: That's lovely. I'm guessing he's gonna be taking you out?
Tia: Yeah. I agreed for him to pick me up in town.
Jason: (frowns) Why can't he pick you up from here? Does he not want to see us?
Mum: Jason! Don't say that!
Tia: He's got a long journey ahead of him, like he's all the way in Cardiff! Meeting up in town will be easier for him and it saves petrol.
Me: Anyway Jase, we're busy ourselves tomorrow, remember? We're meeting up with the others at the park?
Grace had actually suggested it before I asked her if she was Hayden's date.
Jason: Oh yeah. (turns to Tia) But say hi to Nick from us, yeah?
Tia: (smiles) Of course.
*The next day - Saturday*
*Tia's pov*
I didn't expect it to be this busy in town today. I get its a Saturday, but c'mon! Seriously? The amount of people that have walked past me, glaring is ridiculous. The glares are mainly from middle aged snobs who have no taste in modern fashion. There is nothing at all wrong with my outfit, thank you very much.
It's a warm day, so I'm wearing my short sleeved, yellow belly too that has white flowers all over it. Denim shorts that come up to just above my knees, and rose pink sandals. My hair is in its usual high ponytail. I've got Em's spare sunglasses perched on top of my head. They're just plain black - of course Em wouldn't let me borrow her cute rose gold ones. Two reasons she told me: 1. They are expensive and quite new and 2. She's wearing them herself today. Maybe I should beg Nick or mum to get me a pair. They really are cute.
A silver Volvo, that is currently blaring some Halsey song, pulls up. The drivers window rolls down - revealing the one and only Nicholas Marsh. His hair is still the same as it was the last time I saw him - light brown. He's wearing his own pair of shades, (that are actually on his face, unlike me) and a short sleeved navy blue t-shirt.
Nicholas: (grins) You weren't kidding bout your hair. Come on, hop in.
I walk to the other side of the car and climb into the passenger seat. As soon as I've got my seatbelt on, Nick starts driving.
Tia: I didn't know you liked Halsey.
Nicholas: (shrugs) She's alright. So, why's your hair red but your fringe is blonde?
Tia: Cause I wanted it that way. It's what I like. And anyway, I'm redying it soon. Going black.
Nicholas: I take it you still have an obsession with hair dying.
