Right. Deep breath. I knock on his door, now holding the box under my arm. He opens the door - he looks tired, though his face breaks out into a small smile when he sees me.
Jaeden: Hey. You okay?
Me: If I said yes, I'd be lying. You?
Jaeden: Same. Come in.
I walk in and Jaeden closes the door behind me.
Jaeden: I have to warn you, Jack and Wyatt are here. They are leaving in about ten minutes, so don't worry.
Me: Okay.
I hide the box underneath my coat, just as we walk into the living room. Sure enough, Jack and Wyatt are standing next to the coffee table.
Jack: Spicy Señorita!! We meet again!
I giggle, Jaeden shakes his head and Wyatt rolls his eyes.
Me: Hello Jack. Hi Wyatt.
Wyatt: (smiles) Hi.
Jack: Can't get enough of him, can ya?
Me: Suppose not.
Jaeden and I grin at each other.
Jack: Shame, I was gonna say the offer still stands if you wanna pucker up.
Wyatt: Fucking hell, seriously Jack?
Me: (grins) Fat chance of that happening, sorry Jack.
Jaeden laughs and Wyatt grins.
Jack: Huh whatever, I know someone who would gladly accept the offer. (grins)
Jaeden: And who is it this week?
Jack: Ah, I don't kiss and tell, Jaeden.
Wyatt: Well, we all know THAT'S a lie.
We all laugh.
Jaeden: Okay, how bout one more coffee and then you two can get going?
Jack: Is that your way of telling us you want to be alone, so you can ram your tongues down each others throats? (grins)
Jaeden: (flashes middle finger) We are friends.
Jack just keeps grinning.
Jaeden: Let's sit down Em.
Wyatt: I'll make the coffees. (smiles) How do you have yours, Em?
Me: Milk with normally 2 sweeteners.
Wyatt nods, then at the same time we start walking. Just as he's about to pass me, I happen to somehow drop the damn box AGAIN. I go to pick it up, but Wyatt does the honours. (Such a gentleman)
My cheeks are burning and Jaeden has froze. Wyatt straightens up, then hands me back the box. There's no judgement or embarrassment on his face surprisingly.
Wyatt: Here.
Me: T-thanks.
Wyatt: It's okay. (smiles then starts heading for the kitchen again)
Jaeden: Want me to hide it--
Jack: What did you drop? Let's see, I couldn't see while Wyatt was in the way.
Me: It's nothing.
I try to move the box towards Jaeden's hands discreetly - but Jack spots it.
