To Parker,

14. I wish you knew you were never a burden.

Hayley's POV

"Please don't be that friend who forces their friends to go to parties with them. Firstly, peer pressure is a no-no and I don't tolerate it because it puts me out of my comfort zone and I already have anxiety, Jenna.

Secondly, you're the type of person to leave me and go make out with a guy–no offence–but you know it's true. And thirdly I never asked Drayton to go to this party and I vowed to not disobey my brother."

Silence enveloped the room and Jenna spun on her heels, a pout etched on her face. She sighed after realizing that I wasn't going to give in and nodded her head in understanding. "Fair enough, I'm sorry I won't pressure you again okay? It's totally up to you."

"Thank you," one thing I love about Jenna is she's a very understanding person. If she realizes that something doesn't sit right with you, she'll immediately pull back and find a way to make it up to you. She may be a hot-headed person most of the time but who doesn't have an unhinged side to them?

"How do I look?" She questioned.

"Like a whore."

"Hayley!"

"I'm joking!"

She flipped me off and retrieved a bottle of mascara from her vanity. I could only identify a handful of the makeup items she had laid out on the table such as foundation, mascara, blush and so forth. As for the rest, I couldn't be bothered. I only wear makeup on special occasions, like dinner or school dances.

I try to avoid it as much as possible because I have extremely sensitive skin but I can't deny the fact that with it I look like the epitome of a runway model. "Jenny, can you hurry, I wanna leave already." I live ten minutes away from here, meaning if I leave now I might get back home by ten before Drayton arrives.

"Okay, okay I'm not done but I'll let you go because I don't wanna get on Dray's bad side. How do I look? Seriously this time." She pivoted on her heels to face me and I dragged myself off the bed so that I could really assess her outfit.

When this girl dresses she goes all the way out. "Seriously you look good, just don't do anything that I wouldn't do," I exclaimed as I slipped on my sneakers. I planted a kiss on her cheek, bidding her goodbye before leaving.

I started off down the street on my skateboard, unbeknownst to the downpour of rain that would come only seconds later. It started with light drizzles and at first, I brushed it off and continued my journey towards my house.

However, those drizzles gradually grew heavier and heavier until I started to become soaked from head to toe, caught in a rainstorm. I peered up at the sky, sighing in disbelief as water trailed into my mouth, into my clothes, soaking my beautiful shoes. "GREAT! Just bloody great."

As I prepared to make a run for it, blinding lights halted me in my footsteps. A car suddenly rolled to a stop beside me and my fight or flight kicked in, the former preventing me from hopping onto my skateboard and getting the hell out of dodge. Kids, if a strange car pulls up beside you on the street at 9 in the night, do not fight, just run.

"I know karate asshole, so you better GET! The window rolled down slowly, "uhm I didn't hear what you just said but by the look on your face I'm guessing it wasn't that friendly." To make sure I wasn't hallucinating I fished out my phone from my pocket and fumbled with the flashlight icon.

Better safe than sorry.

I shined the light into the window and took a step back, a chuckle of utter disbelief emitting from my lips. "Wow, seriously, universe what is your deal!?" Parker waved his hands frantically, an incredulous look on his face as he possibly wondered why the hell I was still standing there looking pretty.
