Going to the beach with Dean

(754 WORDS)

I coughed as I sat up in bed, the door opened and close as Dean came inside.

"Hey, you should be getting out of bed," Dean instructed as he hurried over to me. I chuckled weakly.

"I can't stay in bed till I'm better, people are dying every day. I am no exception." I retorted but Dean sighed as he took a seat beside me.

"You took a hell of a beating, you at least need to wait a day," He argued but I smiled.

"Why don't we go for a walk?" I asked with a beaming smile so he smiled back. After a little convincing we were in the Impala. Not really a walk but it was nice to be out. I looked in the glove compartment for some music. I came across an AC/DC album and couldn't help but smile. Dean didn't say anything when I was changing the music which shocked me. I've seen him pull a gun on Sam when he touched the music. I picked the song and blasted the music. 'Hells bells' started playing, Dean couldn't stop smiling as we sang along terribly.

We eventually pulled up to a beach and I looked at him confused. Although he seemed obscure I never knew Dean had even been to the beach. He smiled at me brightly as his eyes sparkled. I followed his led and soon enough we were walking on the beach holding hands. Dean isn't the type to show much affection but when he did it melted my heart. The world may be messed up but there isn't anything I wouldn't do to keep Dean safe beside me. We walked along the waterline just enjoying each others company. Telling stories and laughing together.

I didn't want this day to end. After we got pretty far away from the car we took a seat on the sand and snuggled up. It was quite a warm day so I could have stayed here forever. We did speak as we looked out of the waves and enjoyed the view. We were completely at peace until Dean's phone rang. He reluctantly answered.

"Okay, thanks, Bobby," He said before hanging up. He turned to me, not a smile in sight. "We need to head back," He said reluctantly making me sigh. There's always someone who needs saving. I nodded. Dean stood up before pulling me to my feet. We walked back a little slowly, both reluctant to stop our private time early. We didn't speak at all so I decided to make him smile. As we walked I shoved him with my shoulder, he chuckled as he shoved me back. "Do you ever just want to stop hunting?" He asked abruptly. He had a serious look on his face and hurt in his eyes.

"Yeah," I nodded and he looked at me sadly.

"Then why don't we?" He asked stopping me and turning me to look at him. I looked into his eyes for a second.

"We're in the game now, there's no way out." I shrugged but Dean scoffed.

"We could stop playing, get a house, live honest lives." He argued but I sighed sadly. I hate to crush his dreams but I knew he would just live in regret.

"We couldn't live an honest life, we'd be lying to ourselves every day that we saw something and ignored it," I started but Dean sighed knowing I was right. "Sam wouldn't stop hunting and if something happened to him," I had to pause at the thought. A lump in my throat at the thought of it. "We couldn't live with ourselves." I finished before clearing my throat.

"Don't you want kids? I would never want my kids to be hunters," He started, his eyes filling at the thought of it.

"I do but as long there are monsters in this world we would be safe. We're already weak just having each other, with kids who couldn't defend themselves. They'd be dead before they were even born," A tear fell from my cheek. I had thought about this a lot and hoped for a better way but in the back of my mind, I always come to the same conclusion. This is my life now, it's what it will always be. I placed my hand on Dean's cheek and smiled weakly. Tears escaped his eyes. He wiped them away with one hand before pulling me into a hug.

"I love you,"

"I love you, too."
