9:40pmI followed Monty in the dark night holding his hand. The night was humid but cold and the only light in the sky was the moon and the bright stars.
"A junkyard?" I inquired with a chuckle.
"Yeah," he said as if it was obvious.
He had brought me to a gated junkyard with mounds of crushed metal and copper stacked on top of each other. It was empty and gave off an eerie vibe. The ground was decorated with dirt and tiny rocks along with pieces of metals and nails. The gate was already cracked open a tiny bit almost like Monty had already set this up, when I asked him he said it was just a coincidence but it lurked on the back of my head for while if he was planning on bring me here.
"Are you gonna kidnap and murder me?" I joked.
"I am," He replied.
I laughed, tugged on his arm an leaned on him, "Well I guess it's my time to go anyways," I sighed, "Why are we here anyways?"
"I don't know actually, I just needed somewhere to go alone with you that isn't a car or your room," he clarified.
I cleared my throat, "Look, I'm sorry for everything I said before about you not coming to terms with your sexuality and all that stuff at the party and anything else I said before," I apologized, "I shouldn't have said all that stuff I can't imagine how much of a piece if shit you must've thought I was."
"No," he acknowledged, "I still think your a piece of shit."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes, giving a light smile, "I'm serious."
He quickly pressed my body into an old car in the middle of the junkyard, "So am I," he leaned in closer to me pressing his entire body on top of mine and kissing me on the lips over and over again. I turned my head as the kisses became more aggressive and traveled down my neck. I released a moan of relief and placed my hand on the back of his head.
Suddenly, small sniffles came from behind the car, they were faint but noticeable, "Wait," I pushed him off but he forced himself closer to me, "Wait, listen," I warned him.
He slowly stepped away, "What?"
I walked to the back of the car carefully trying not to make any noise.
"Molly?" I puzzled, "What the fuck?"
She was sitting down with her head tucked into her legs but looked up as soon as I called her name, "Oh, fuck," she said with a deep voice and a sob, "I'm sorry, I won't tell anyone, I just needed to go somewhere by myself, I'll leave-"
"Did you follow us?" Monty interrogated.
"No!" she exclaimed, "I was here before you guys."
She stood up slowly and picked up a large backpack from the floor. Her eyes were red and puffy and she had mascara running down her face, making a dark shadow around her eyes.
Me and Monty stayed silent for a while, not knowing what to say to her. The only sound between us was the sharp, high-pitched humming of the wind blowing through our hair and clothes.
I was playing with my fingers before is spoke up, "What happened?"
She looked at me with a hostile, cruel look in her eyes but tried to disguise it with a content face eventhough her pain was clearly showing, "nothing, I have to go," She squirmed inbetween me and Monty and started towards the exit.
I followed her with quick steps and latched onto her shoulder, turning her around but instead I was met with that same, vile and cruel expression on her face.
"We only met yesterday but you can still tell me what happened," I gave a sincere smile.
"Nothing!" she was obviously frustrated, "I need to get home."
As she turned back around to walk away I caught a glimpse of her hand. At the tip of her middle finger there a drop of blood that seemed to be coming from an open wound on her inner arm, "Oh my god, you're bleeding come here," I grabbed her arm and rolled up her sleeve. Instead what I saw wasn't an open wound from what I thought must've been a scratch from the rusty metal on the car she was sitting against, but instead it was a horizontal cut, almost too perfect to be accidental.
I regretted what I had done immediately and secretly wished that I could've taken it back, I recognized that the cut wasn't accidental, but instead an obvious sign of self harm.
She pulled her arm away and winced a the pain of the leather riding up against the cut on across her wrist. I could feel Monty's presence behind me as I backed away startled by what just happened.
Molly stared at me with wide eyes and distressed hair attacking the sides of her face. She backed away slowly and turned around with a drop of blood falling from her finger and landing on the floor, staining the area a dark burgundy red. Her footsteps echoed in the empty junkyard along with the distant sound of her backpack being dragged on the floor. She walked steadily until she met the gate and when she did, she didnt even bother to open it a little wider so she could fit comforably, but instead just turned her body sideways and walked off into the darkness.
"Shit," Monty sighed and groaned, putting his hands over his face.
I was still trying to process what just happened as I faced Monty.
"Are you okay?" he asked me
I blinked repeatedly, trying to brush off the situation, "Um," I pondered to myself for a moment, "Yeah, yeah, I think the bigger question though is, is she okay?" I acknowledged
Monty nodded, "Yeah yikes."
I frowned at him, "No!" I corrected him, "Not yikes, that's really fucked, what she's doing."
He stammered, "I- should we tell someone?"
"No, no, no," I reassured him, "It's not our business."
Suddenly, my phone started to buzz steadily, the buzz when someone is calling. I took out my phone and then almost dropped it when I saw the name of who was calling, someone I thought I would never speak to again.
"Uh, I have to take this one second," I held up a finger to Monty and walked a little towards the gate and proceeded to make a big circle with my footsteps in the dirt over and over again.
"What, CJ," I answered seriously.
"Can we talk" he asked me, I could tell he was speaking slowly so his voice wouldn't start shaking.
"No," I replied sternly as my finger reached for the "end call" button.
"Please," he begged desperately through the small hole in the phone.
"I don't have time."
The short ring that was made when you hung up on a call echoed like a siren.
"Who was it?" Monty pleaded.
"No one," I offered a bland grin, "No one important."
