"I'll have one scoop of chocolate chip and...one scoop of coffee," I grabbed my wallet out of my back pocket.

"Is that all for today?" The lady at the window of the ice cream shop buy asked me. It was a small building with a set if windows in the front were you would order your food, no one went inside, all if the tables were outdoor.

"Yes, thank you," I handed her the 20 dollar bill.

"Alright, awesome, be right back!" she said energetically.

"Bold," someone said from behind.

I looked back, I didn't recognize the person, "what?"

It was a boy, he was about my age but I never saw him at school. He had wavy floppy hair that came down to his ears. His eyes were an almost magical blue and his lips curved upwards as if they were perfectly painted onto his face. His nose was small but stood out which complimented his strong cheek bones and sharp jawline. He had on a yellow button-up shirt with barely visible designs and white skinny Jean's. In his face he had on a golden set of aviators, but they seemed modernized. His hands were neatly tucked into his pockets.

"Not a lot of people choose coffee as a flavor," he said smirking.

I was confused but went along, "uhm, I guess, yeah," I chuckled.

I squinted and looked around, "are you, like, new in town or something, I've never seen you around in school," I said itching at the top if my head.

He took off his sunglasses and smirked again, "yes, actually I moved here back in May but I never bothered going to school since its senior year," He laughed.

I scoffed, "your parents just...let you not go to school?"

His smile slowly faded but he seemed content, "I don't have any parents," he said.

My face went blank.

"Or, I did but, they died a few years back and so I was just bouncing around from foster home to foster home until I finally turned 18 last February and I could finally get out of the hellhole," he said.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," I apologized

"Nahhh, it's fine, I mean- life's a bitch," he smiled.

"And how old are you, may I ask," he ran his ringer through his hair.

I smiled back at him, "I'm 18 too."

He grinned, "cool."

He put his hand out, "I'm Elio."

I shook his hand, "Cj."

"1 scoop chocolate, 1 scoop coffee?" the woman at the window rang the bell.

I turned back around, "that's me."

"Alright, enjoy," she said handing me the ice cream.

"And what can I get for you," she asked Elio. He walked up to the lady and said "I'll have the same as him," he looked over at me with a grin.

I smiled and walked over to a table. That was probably the closest thing to friendship I've had in a while. Probably since that whole thing with Monty and Winston. I bumped into him on the bus getting off this morning and I was about to talk to him but he just apologized and quickly walked off the bus. Around May of last year I gave up on trying to make friends. I lost hope after I lost my childhood bestfriend to some dick who didn't even care about him. My memories with Winston from 2 years ago are the only things I have left from him.

Soon Elio walked over and sat down across from me with an identical cup of ice cream.

"I thought my choice was bold," I smirked.

He took a bite of his ice cream, "Well, I'm bold too."

I let out a laugh and he did too.

I held my spoon in the hair and gestured for him to do the same.

I gently bumped my spoon into his, "cheers."

He took a bite of his ice cream
