Parker's P.O.V

I drive the car in the direction of the vampire's scent.

It is so sweet it's giving me a headache. 'Syris where are you?' I ask him through the mind link.

'In the left wing through the woods.' He says. I increase the speed of the car, if only the damn thing can go faster. I wish I could still turn into my wolf right now; I would've been there in just a minute.

I drive through the woods and I could almost smell the vampire from here. But I still can't smell Rosie. I abruptly stop the car, which forces me to jerk forward but still remain unharmed, and quickly get out. I leave the car there and I hear Syris whelp out in pain.

'Syris!' I call alarmed.

'I just got kicked....it fucken hurts!' he growls in pain and in anger.

'I'm coming!' I yell and start running in their direction. I hate how I can't sprint to go help out but I have to think about my health as well here. I can make up for the lost time, I know it.

When I reach the scene Jordan, Malcolm, Keith and Frank are charging. And that's when I saw him.

I look up at Kiara's flaming wolf, Ifrit.

This is it, this is the day I die. I watch as she raises her paw ready to deliver her last blow. Ready to kill me like I meant nothing to her, I guess I did.

Then in a blink of an eye I'm saved by a hooded figure with red eyes and a disgustingly sweet smell. I look behind me and I see Kiara's paw connecting with the ground sending an immense amount of heat throughout the woods, setting more trees on fire.

We managed to survive the attack.

The vampire sets me down near the pack house, far away from the action and the death. We lock eyes. Mine wide and curious. His cold and mischievous.

'Well, well, well. Looks like I just saved your life.' He chuckles with a smirk.

~

I'm then glued to the spot as I watch him take something out of Rosie's neck. A syringe, that held a red substance in it. My nose picks up on the smell. It's venom. Vampire venom. He then says something to the vampire holding a limp Rosie in his hands. Then he disappears.

I knew I could catch up to him and stop him. But, I didn't. I don't know what held me in place and made me refuse to go after him. One thing I know for sure what it isn't, is loyalty. There could never be loyalty between a wolf and a vampire. We are sworn enemies.

I'm then brought back to reality when I see the vampire kicking Malcolm away from him. He's scared to death, I can smell. I give a loud growl, refusing to let this vampire slide. Him...... I will find him later but right now I've got something to deal with. The vampire turns to look at me. His face immediately changes to one of ease.

"If your Alpha is this pathetic then I guess- ". But in a blink of an eye I'm right behind him and I don't give him a chance to finish his sentence as I snap his neck in half. I take out the wooden stake in my back pocket and stick it right through his body. His lifeless body falls on me. I take out the stake and push his lifeless body off of me. I watch his lifeless body fall to the ground.

'Parker!' my members mind links me, all beaming with joy and relief. 'And that's why you are Alpha my man!' I hear Frank yell, and running up to me.

Rosie!

My eyes widen in panic and fear as I look at Rosie laying on the ground silent. I quickly get to my knees and pick up my mate. "Rosie." I brush off the strands of her hair off her face. She doesn't open her eyes nor does she move.

I then remember what HE put in her neck.

I tilt her head gently to the left. I see dark blue veins running down to throughout her body. Damn it!

I pull Rosie closer to me, with a heavy heart. I didn't protect my mate. I wasn't there when she needed me because I got distracted. I shouldn't have left her side. I shouldn't have dropped my guard. I shouldn't have......Damn it.

This is all my fault. This is all my fault. I was supposed to be the one to protect her but I failed her. I failed her. Her breathing starts to slow down to a dangerously slow pace. Shit, I need to get her to the pack doctor. I pick her up in my arms.

"We need to get Rosie to the pack doctor. That damned vampire from before injected her with something, we need to extract it before it...." But I immediately stop when Rosie starts shifting and whimpering. I look down at her concerned. She is gritting her teeth together. She's in pain.

I start sprinting in the direction of where I parked my car, ignoring the pain erupting from my back. Rosie needs to get to the pack doctor before it fully enters her blood system.

I quickly put her inside the car. I run to the other side of the car and get in. I see my pack members standing and watching me. "I've got to help her guys." I tell them tasting salt now in my mouth. I quickly glance in the mirror and see that I'm crying. I look at my hands and see them trembling.

Syris quickly shifts and runs to the car.

"Pass me the shorts and shirt in the dashboard." He orders me. I quickly reach out to the dashboard and take out the spare clothes and pass it to him. "Move over Parker, I'm driving." Syris says wearing the pants. I gulp and pick up Rosie so that I can shift to the passenger seat. I lay Rosie on my lap. Her head fallen limp on my chest. She's getting cold.

The door to the drivers' side opens and closes. "Guys, you know what to do." Syris tells them and starts the car. "Let's get her to the hospital. Buckle up." He warns me and starts driving. I wrap the seat belt around Rosie and I.

As cold as she is right now, she's sweating. Damn it! I should've been there. I'm the worst mate ever.
