Parker's P.O.V
I'm seated by Rosie's side, holding her hand. She hasn't woken up in three days.
When Syris and I reached the hospital that day, we got the pack doctor who works with humans, and other wolves spread out across the town, to treat her. He confirmed my worst fear. Rosie has indeed been injected with vampire venom. It has spread throughout her entire body. The only thing they could try to do right now is too drain it but she would experience a lot of blood loss so she will need blood from another werewolf to make up for all the blood she will lose.
I offered to be the donor but when the doctor tested my blood he found me not compatible to her blood type. They needed a relative. There's no relative.
I look at her tiny hands in mine. "I'm sorry Rosie." I sigh and let go of her hand to stand up. "I'm so stupid. I should've been on high alert." I run a hand through my hair frustrated.
Since no one was compatible to Rosie's blood type, we had no choice but to watch her transform into whatever it is she will be. Knowing that she'll now be forced to drink human blood makes me sick to the core. It's revolting. I hope things don't have to get to that.
I look at her monitor. Her heart beat is stable. I turn around to walk to the window that has been closed in case the sunlight reaches her and she burns. I haven't left this room in three days. I haven't seen the sun in three days. Been outside for three days. It sometimes gets to me.
'Parker.' Syris mind links me.
'No, she hasn't woken up.' I sigh and fold my arms over my chest. 'She's fully transformed. We are just waiting on her to wake up.' I tell him.
'That's great and all but I wasn't calling to check in on her.' Syris says in a low voice.
'Oh.' is all I say. I smile at this. 'I'm doing fine Syris, thanks for checking up on me buddy.' I tell him.
He chuckles on the other side. 'I'm your best friend. It's my responsibility.' He says casually.
'Well then best friend. I'm kind of hungry right now. Why don't you bring me food and the guys over so we can eat together? I've actually missed those idiots.' I shake my head not believing the truth in my words.
'Will do.' Syris says excited. 'Should we bring some food for Rosie?' he asks me quietly.
I turn around to look at Rosie. She is still where I left her. She seems so at peace and calm. 'No. just for us.' I sigh and walk back to my seat beside her and sit down.
'See you soon then.' Syris says and cuts the mind link. I chew on my bottom lip and watch Rosie sleep.
I get up from my seat again. I need to use the bathroom. "I'll be back Rosie." I squeeze her hand and walk away from her and out of the hospital room.
I quickly make my way past rooms full of patients and other family members. I smell death everywhere on this part of the hospital. I hate the smell of death. I pick up my pace, not wanting to be away from Rosie longer than ten minutes.
I turn the corner and I bump right into someone.
She squeals falling on the floor. "Oof." She mumbles. That voice. I back up and stare at Alice in shock. She looks up and we lock eyes.
"Parker?"
"Alice."
She doesn't get up from the floor still staring at me. I can see by her eyes that she has been crying. "Parker." She says and gets up on her own. "It was nice meeting you but I have somewhere to be." She says her eyes not meeting mine and she walks past me and into the direction I came from. In the direction full of death.
I turn around to try and follow her but I think of Rosie.
I sigh and walk away. I try to swallow the guilt made up into a ball in my throat, it's difficult. I'm then reminded of what happened that day. I bumped into her. She was so calm about it. She wanted to be friends with me, maybe more.
But.
Had I not been distracted with her Rosie wouldn't be in the hospital right now. Rosie wouldn't have been whatever she is right now. Rosie wouldn't have to drink human blood for the rest of her life until we find a donor or a relative. And what are the chances that we will find her relative?
I walk into the male bathroom. I quickly finish my business and go wash my hands. I look at myself in the mirror. I look horrible, I realize. The bags under my eyes have gotten deeper showing my restlessness and lack of sleep. My hair is a mess. My skin is so pale. Well it can't be helped.
I dry my hands and walk out the bathroom, making my way back to Rosie. I pass by the hospital wards reeking of death. Then I smell her. Alice. I stop at room 17. The door was slightly opened and I hear crying on the other side. It's Alice. She's crying.
No. I have to get back to Rosie. I start to walk away again but I stop. If anything happens to Rosie and I'm not there again...
I walk to the door and I knock softly on it, not wanting to shock Alice. I hear shifting and moving. Alice clears her throat. "Come in!" she sniffles. I open the door wider and walk in. She looks at me with wide eyes. "Alice- "I start but stop when I see who she is with. It's a young boy who looks no less than Rosie's age. He is connected to all kinds of machines and has his eyes closed.
My heart sinks at the sight.
