I open my eyes, looking at the ceiling. So Syris knew where I was heading. That's my Beta for you.
"He's dead." I say in a low voice. Everyone goes quiet, too shocked to say anything. "Killed by the vampire who injected the venom in Rosie." I add. "The fuck, did he know something about Dr Martin that we didn't?" Cameron asks. The guys nod, sharing the same sentiment.
"Dr Martin was right about the portal." I say and sit up. "Rosie really does come from another dimension. There is also a possibility that there might be a war soon." I sigh, weirdly relaxed. I wonder why. "Shit." Syris widens his eyes, covering his mouth with his hand. "But that can't be right. There can't be a war, that's ridiculous." Eden mutters. "And against who? Who are we going to war with?" George asks.
I shrug. "I don't know." I confess. "The book Dr Martin wrote in about Rosie is in a safe. Since I couldn't open it, it's under police custody- ". "Wait the police know about the safe?" Henry interrupts me. "Yes." I give him a look for interrupting me. He mouths an apology. "When I got to the hospital, the police were already there. So they filled me in on what's happened and told me everything I needed to know." I frown reliving everything that's happened. "The vampire didn't take anything from him though. It seems like he just wanted to silence him or something and believed the best way to silence him is to kill him." I look at my housemates.
"So I went through Dr Martin's drawers, where I saw him put Rosie's file in, but it wasn't there. So I thought he might've left it in the safe or something. So when I tried to open the safe, it wouldn't open. We tried all kinds of combinations but nothing. So the police thought it would be wise for them to go find someone who can open the safe. I told them once they find that person they should call me immediately and that I should be there when they open it." I say, my mind thinking back to that police rookie. No one says anything.
"So now we prepare for war?" Syris asks me, looking me in the eyes. "I guess so."
"And we can't wait for the police to find someone to open that safe. We have to ask the source itself to be two steps ahead." My eyes travel to the stairs where she stood watching us. Her figure blending in with the dark. "Rosie." I watch her. Everyone immediately turns to look at the stairs. "I thought you were still asleep." Syris says surprised. She slowly walks down the stairs and sits down on the last step.
"I woke up and thought I should come down stairs to come spend some time with you guys." She says playing with her thumbs. "That's fast. You usually sleep 4 hours." Syris frowns. "You only slept 2." He points out worried. "You really are a mother. You keep track of sleep schedules now?" Eden asks Syris. Syris ignores him.
"I'm sure you've heard everything." I ask her. She is able to hide her scent now so nobody picked up on it. Had I not noticed that how eerily peaceful I was, because of her being near and my eyes glancing towards her direction, I wouldn't have picked up on her being around.
"Only up to when you told them Dr Martin is dead because of Casper." She looks to me. Casper. "Is that the name of the vampire who killed Dr Martin?" I ask her. She nods. "Yeah." She scratches her knee. "He told me his name while I was in deep sleep." She looks at Syris. "At the hospital. He was able to enter my subconscious while I was still asleep and tell me things." She continues. I nearly had a heart attack.
