I open the door to Rosie's room and walk in.
"What did the blanket say to the bed when it got worried? Don't worry, I got you covered!" Syris bursts out into laughter. I quickly catch myself before I embarrass myself. I then clear my throat and watch as the other guys groan in annoyance. "Not these jokes again!" Eden sighs and turns to bang his head on the wall covering his ears. "I'm not hearing anymore." Cameron opens the window and pretends as if he's going to jump out and commit suicide.
I go sit by Rosie's side and look at her. She seems to be enjoying these jokes. She looks so happy. She may not understand any of them but I think the reaction she's getting from Syris is entertainment enough.
"Okay fine, fine." Syris raises his hands. "But answer me this." He lowers them. "Why did the chef go to jail?" he asks us. I force myself not to smile at this. "Why?" Eden looks at him suspicious. Syris snickers. "Because he was found beating an egg!" Syris bursts out into laughter once again.
I couldn't catch myself fast enough and I let my laugh slip. They all turn to look at me shocked. "Alpha you like these type of jokes?" Cameron covers his mouth shocked. I try to control myself but it was so witty...it's funny! "No, I was just laughing at his reaction to it. I'm laughing at Syris more than the joke really." I lie.
"Liar!" Syris fishes me out. "Okay fine, I found it a little bit funny." I fold my arms over my chest and do a slight little pout. "I'm so shocked right now; I can't even begin to even." Eden gasps, eyes wide.
"We are two peas in a pod." Syris comes over to punch my arm happy. I chuckle. "No we are not." I push him away smiling. "You guys are so weird." Cameron shakes his head. "No I'm not." I frown at Cameron. "Sure thing Parker." He scoffs and looks away from me. I sigh and turn to look at Rosie who was watching me all this time with a serious look on her face.
"You like old man jokes." She then smiles as if she just discovered something. "They are not old man jokes, they are jokes." Syris butts in. "No they are old man jokes." Malcolm points out. "There is no such thing as old man jokes!" Syris frown at him. "Dude they are old man jokes." Eden butts in.
I then ignore them and smile at Rosie. "Kind of. They are really witty that's why." I tell her. She widens her big eyes. "I want to hear more old man jokes, tell me more old man jokes." She blinks her eyes excited. I shake my head, not willing to expose myself like that. "Come on Rosie we have to get you out of these hospital robes and get you into your clothes and get out of here." I stand up and look down at her.
"She's being discharged?" Cameron asks. I nod. "Yeah." I agree. "Great. I hate the smell of medicine." Syris says relieved. "George get her clothes in the closet behind you." I tell him. "Sure, sure." He nods and turns around to take the clothes in the closet and passes them to me. "Time to change okay?" I hand her clothes. She takes them and leaves to go change in the bathroom.
'Parker, what did the doctor want to talk about?' Syris asks me. I could tell not only was he curious but he wanted to find if anything was wrong with Rosie. Syris has grown to really care for Rosie.
'Yeah, I mean when you walked in you seemed to be in a bad mood.' Jordan also asks, then everyone agrees with him wanting to know what the doctor said.
'He told me what Rosie showed him.' I start but pause as what he said replays in my head. 'He told me that she showed him a war yet to come. A war where hundreds of thousands of people, human and wolves, die.'
'But we haven't had a war in over a hundred years!' Henry gasps shocked. 'You're not alone buddy.' I think to myself.
'Yeah and what could be the reason for the war. I mean everyone is at peace with each other?' Frank says.'I don't know, he told me something about how Rosie wanted to show him more but his mind wouldn't handle it. He didn't tell me what causes the war.' I say.
'The rogues may start an attack but it could never lead to war.' Syris adds trying to think of other possibilities.
'That's not all.' I pause making sure they are all listening. 'He also said these wolves will be from different worlds.' They all keep quiet, in shock and disbelief.
"Done!" Rosie jumps on my back, causing me cut the mind link. "Piggy back ride time!" she yells excited. I smile at her and position her properly for a piggy back ride. "I'm not a pig though." I tell her. "I know." She says. "But it's what it's called." She adds. I tilt my head so I could see her little big face with big wide eyes. Cute.
I say nothing and look to my pack members and see they all seem on edge and guarded.
'Stop acting scared, there's no war about to happen.' I tell them, sensing their fear and anxiety.
'I get you but...' Syris drags on.
'But what? There is no war yet to come. That's it.' I say and cut the mind link.
"Let's go eat Pizza and beef burgers!" Rosie yells excited rapidly swaying her arms in the air. I notice that her arms and face will be exposed when she enters into the sun. She might burn when exposed to the sun. After all she does have vampire characteristics, whether she will burn or not I don't know but I don't want to risk it when it comes to Rosie.
"Hey Jordan, borrow us your jacket for a while hey." I look at him. "She's kind of exposed." I tell him and he immediately gets it. "Oh." and he takes off his jacket and wraps it over Rosie.
"What am I exposed to?" Rosie asks me. "The sun." I tell her and start walking out the door. "What's wrong with the sun?" she asks leaning her chin on my shoulders. "It might harm your delicate skin." I tell her as we pass by two human males, watching us weirdly. "But I can stay in the sun with my delicate skin." She argues. "Yeah but you might burn and disappear forever." I tell her and walk in the direction of the elevator.
"Why would I burn and disappear forever?" she asks me. The elevator door opens and out comes four people. All humans and they look at us weirdly again. The old lady that's last to get off the elevator looks me in the eyes and I could smell suspicion radiating off her. Her eyes travel to Rosie. When Rosie doesn't meet her eyes she frowns but walks away.
"We'll talk about that later." I tell her watching the old lady walk towards reception and tries to discreetly point in our direction. But she obviously failed in being discreet. I could see her wrinkled finger lift up and point in our direction. I pretend as if I didn't see.
'What's up with the humans?' Franks asks through mind link.
'We are a group of grown men and one of us is carrying a female child on his back and has her covered in an over sized jacket almost like he is trying to hide her from being seen.' Syris says.
'Yeah and so?' Frank asks.
'They probably think we are kidnapping her.' Syris says bluntly. 'And they also probably think that we are tricking her into wearing the coat by talking about the fact that she might burn so that she doesn't cause much of a fuss too.' Syris chuckles. 'Humans.'
'Human old lady's' who can't mind their own business suck.' I think to myself. We enter the elevator and I hit the ground button.
"Hey! They shouldn't be so many people in an elevator!" The security guard near the reception yells at us. "The maximum is ten." Syris looks at him blankly. "We are ten passengers." He adds. The security guard looks at us suspiciously. "Uh we changed it to 8 passengers recently." He lies. "So I'd like for them to wait for the next turn." He points at me and Rosie.
"Don't worry, we'll step out and wait for the next turn." Syris says and gets out the elevator pulling Eden with him. "Um no. We would like for those two specifically to step out." He says starting to sweat. I quickly glance at the old lady by the reception area. She is looking at us watching everything. "What? Why?" Syris says. I hit the ground button again. "We uh can't have a child stuck in an elevator with so many people. She might suffocate or feel claustrophobic." He says.
"Don't worry mister. I won't suffocate." Rosie picks up her head to look at him. The elevator doors start to close. "Uhm are you sure miss?" he asks her. "She's sure." I reply for her and force a smile for him to see. The elevator doors close.
"That felt like we were in a movie where we kidnap one of our own from prison and are trying to get away from the cops." Cameron laughs, causing the others to laugh as well. I scoffed.
