Purple Roses

PROTECTED

I watch in horror as the guy with the gun has grabbed Rosie, kicking and screaming, by her hair.

"Stop it!" he hisses at her. Then that's when I smelt his sweet smell that made me want to puke. He's a vampire. Damn it! How could I not have sensed him coming?

"Rosie!" I try to get her attention. She immediately stops struggling and looks at me with tears in her eyes. She's scared, afraid and in pain. "Let her go you bloodsucker." I growl at the stranger who has Rosie hanging by her hair.

I notice he has one gun now, where is the other one? Unless, there are two of them but...something isn't right here.

Rosie is holding onto the vampires' hand trying her best to lessen the pain she's feeling. I feel anger bubbling up inside me as this bloodsucker is hurting my mate but just charging in on him would be foolish. I have to play my cards right.

"I'm sorry mutt but I can't. I have a job to do." He says in a raspy and slow voice.

"Parker!" Syris yells coming from behind me. I size up the vampire. He doesn't seem like a big threat and I could easily defeat him in my weakened state. But the thing making him stronger or the thing that gives him an upper hand is that he has Rosie.

I charge at the vampire trying my best to confuse him and trying my best to get to Rosie without hurting her. I must protect Rosie at all costs.

He laughs and dodges my advancements. I hear Rosie scream in pain at the sudden movements. "Wow, you are pathetically slow." He laughs again. "I'm only being careful around Rosie." I growl at him. "Oh?" he says lamely. "Well, let me use this advantage then." He says and he starts running. "Parker!" Rosie weakly screams my name as they disappear. What have they done to her.

"Syris!" I call him. "Here." He says by my side awaiting my command.

"Chase after Rosie in wolf form. Follow him as far as you can and try to corner him in the woods until I arrive." I tell him. He nods and starts sprinting ahead, his figure changing with each passing second until his brown and black streaked wolf form appears. I won't let that bloodsucker take Rosie.

But first, I have to take care of something. I quickly run back and to go search for these girls.

'Parker watch out we have a vampire in the area.' Jordan mind links me weakly.

'Jordan where are you?' I ask him jogging around the area searching for the girls.

'With Lisa and Inde by the bathroom near the roller coaster.' He says getting his voice back.

'Jordan what happened?' I ask him turning a corner to the bathroom stalls.

'I don't know, one minute I'm walking with Rosie and the next thing I'm in the bathroom with these two fine young girls. At first I thought I was in heaven and then I realized it too late that I got hit.' He growls getting mad at himself. I enter the bathroom stalls and sniff the girls strong perfume coming from the girl's bathroom.

I slam the door open and I hear the girls scream in fright before they realized it was just me. "Parker! Where is Alice? What happened to Alice?" the bold one from before asks me getting up from carrying Jordan's head on her lap to run to me. "Alice is safe but I need to get you guys reunited. So could you please follow me?" I look at her; she nods her head frantically.

"Uh yeah sure. Come on Jordan let's go." She says going back to Jordan to help him up. Jordan pretends to be hurt way more than he already is. "Jordan, can you please go find Syris." I tell him as I go to help him get up. He gives me a look.

'Rosie has been taken by a vampire. I got Syris to follow and corner him. I need you to get the others and go help Syris out while I take care of these girls. He's not that strong though but always be on alert, he might have company.' I tell him, as we lock eyes, through mind link.

He gives me a slight nod barely noticeable and stand ups on his own.

"Come on ladies, we've got a reunion to get to." I tell them and motion for them to follow me. The other shy girl looks at me. "But what about Jordan?" she asks turning to look at him. Jordan smiles sheepishly. "I'm stronger than I look. I'll be fine. You guys get to safety." He says and starts walking ahead of us.

"Let's go and get you to Alice." I start walking ahead of them.

"Today was so weird." The shy girl points out. "Tell me about it Inde." The bold one says to the shy one, Inde. Then that must be Lisa.

The sound of police sirens fills the air. "Took them long enough don't you say?" Lisa asks me frowning. "Yeah, they really are slow." I chuckle as I know the reason why they are so slow.

The Police Force have had incidents of disappearances of humans' way years back and they couldn't find out who or what exactly it was that was stealing people from their families. My Great Grandfather talked to the Police Force and told them he knew how to protect the humans from such danger but he wanted to use the Police Force as a front because he understood how humans would treat us if they knew what we are and are capable of doing.

Moral of the story: We are the Police Force and also not the Police Force.

We reach the exit and we are then bombarded by police men and cars. The police captain, Mr Marc gets out of his car and approaches me. We both give each other a grim look.

"Mr Wood." He greets me and nods at the girls. "Mr Marc." I reply. "Can you please take these two girls and help them find their friend Alice. They got separated during the shootout." I inform him as two policemen approach us to lead them away. "Parker." Lisa grabs hold of my arm. I turn to look at her. She gives me a look I find difficult to decipher. She then let's go of my arm and allows the policeman to lead her away.

I hear Mr Marc clear his throat. I turn to look at him and see he has a serious look on his face. "Parker, a word please." he leads me away from the rest of the crew to my car. "What was he this time?" he asks me serious. "A vampire. But no casualties occurred. We are still tracking him down." I inform him. He nods understanding.

"Do what you got to do, and we'll do what we have to do." He says and sighs putting his hands on his hips and watches as most of his men enter the park to go investigate the situation. "Stay safe Parker." he says walking away from me to follow his men. I give the old man a small smile.

I get in the car and run the engine.

'Syris.' I say through mind link. 'There are two of them, be on high alert.'
