Still Syris's P.O.V
After I cut the line Sam came by to inspect Rosie and he came with Tanya.
Tanya brought with her some clothes Rosie could wear, since we decided it would be best for us not to go to town in case Rosie grew again. They were a little too big for her but after finding out that Rosie grew a couple years older I guess they fit her just fine. As expected things were awkward for all of us but we managed to look past our differences and help find out what Rosie is.
Sam then explained to us what Rosie is and how to move forward. And with that piece of information he thought it would be best to feed her before she goes into some craze and starts terrorizing the town. So Sam left with Tanya to go bring her food.
"Parker, there's something you should know." I tell Parker and turn my attention back to Rosie. She takes a step forward, the sun shining on her skin causing it to glitter. She wore an over sized t-shirt that stopped mid-thigh. She also had tights on that stop right above the knee. She is walking barefoot. Her bright red eyes, being the main attraction. "Rosie." He takes a step forward and I hear a car pull over. Great, Sam's back.
"Parker, you need to keep your distance and let me handle this okay. I don't want you over exerting yourself alright?" I grab his arm to stop him from walking any further.
"Syris!" Sam yells from the pack house. I turn around and see him carrying a blue and white cooler box. Tanya follows behind him but stops by the doorway. He reaches us. "I've got the food." He breathes heavily, sweat dripping down his face. Parker turns around. "Sam? Tanya?" he asks shocked. I look to him. "Long story short. He knows and is here to help."
Parker's P.O.V
I look at Sam, trying my best to hide the shock.
"Long story short. He knows and is here to help." Syris tells me. I nod, trying to get over the shock as fast as possible, and turn back to my now 11-year-old mate, Rosie. She is standing in the sun right now, just watching us with bright red eyes.
"Parker I need you take a step back." Syris says and let's go of my arm. Sam then stands behind me with the cooler box in his hands. He puts it down. "What are you doing here Sam?" I ask him. He looks up at me. "I came here to help." He says, serious. "I also know what Rosie is." He says confidently. "We'll talk about this later. Right now, we have to feed Rosie." He says and opens the cooler box and I growl in disgust at what they are planning on feeding my mate.
"Parker, this is the only option we have." Syris says, also trying his best to hide his disgust. Sam is the only one unaffected by this. He takes out the blood bag. "If you don't mind, may I be the one to feed her?" he asks, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. I watch him. "She won't hurt me, hopefully." He chuckles excited. "Sure why not." Syris says not hesitating. I slap his arm. "Sam, I think you should give the food to me. She might really hurt you. You are after all human." I tell him taking the blood bag from him.
He doesn't protest but I could see in his eyes that he wasn't pleased at all. I turn to Rosie and see that she is quietly watching us. Her eyes then shift from my eyes to what I'm holding in my hands. She blinks once then looks up at my face. I take a step forward with the blood in my hands. She doesn't move towards me. She just stands there. I look at the blood bag to read what type of blood this is. 'Type B Deer.' It reads.
I gulp, trying my best to not vomit. Is this what she is reduced to now? Drinking blood to survive for the rest of her life? Damn it, there must be another way. I stop a couple of steps away from her. My chest suddenly becomes heavy. I place the blood bag gently on the floor and take a step back. She doesn't move. I turn around. I can't watch her drink it. I won't be able to handle it. Who would've thought that after years of fighting vampires away from this town, I now harbor one in my pack house and have it as a mate.
This is all thanks to that vampire. He's the one that did this.
He's the one that turned my mate into a monster. I then feel a warm breeze blowing carrying traces of scented roses. I then feel a shiver crawl up my back as my sense tell me Rosie is right behind me. I don't move. I close my eyes to calm myself down. This is to be expected. She has to eat. And since she's a vampire now, the only thing her system can handle is blood. She is half dead after all. I hear the sound of the blood bag being ripped open. I slightly cringe.
I open my eyes and start walking away from her. I can't. I can't bring myself to stand here. I know this is cowardly behavior and nothing can justify it. I'm supposed to be standing by her side because it's my fault she's like this. Had I not taken my eyes off of her, we wouldn't have to be here right now, feeding her animal blood. It was because of me failing to protect her that she is what she is right now.
Syris looks behind me at Rosie with a blank look. Sam looks at her with a shimmer in his eyes. Then there's Sam Hawkings who has to find everything fascinating. "Parker- "Syris starts but I ignore him and walk back to the house. I take deep breaths to try and calm myself down.
'Turn back, you coward.' Thorne growls at me, angry. I stop by the door.
'Thorne, I can't. I can't stand there and- '
'Well suck it up!' he yells. 'Suck it up. You'll only regret it later if you don't.' he tells me.
I'll only regret it later if I don't. I turn around to look back at everything. Then I see Rosie on her knees. The bag, sucked dry, now in her hands. My chest gets heavier as I see tears run down her face. "Rosie!" Syris runs to her. I gulp and then it hits me.
Rosie also probably can't deal with having to drink blood for the rest of her life. Just like me she is also new to this. She's never had to be fed blood from where she comes from but when she gets here...... I feel like a such a prick. This is also hard on her as much as it is hard on me...but I'm not the one who has to drink the blood. Her sobs then fill the quiet air, ringing in my ear. Syris takes the blood bag and throws it far away from her and brings her close.
I then see 7 other wolves come out from the woods panting heavily. They all race to Rosie and Syris. Rosie continues crying, grabbing hold of Syris. I gulp and I feel as if a needle has been stuck through my chest. Watching them comfort Rosie, hurts. The fact that despite what she is, they are the ones that are there for her when she is crying and at her lowest and me, her mate is not. How can I claim that I am her mate when I don't act like one? How can I claim to care for her when I'm here and she's there?
Sam suddenly gasps. I turn to look at him. He looks like he just realized something. He then waves his hand, brushing it off. I don't pay him much attention and sit down on the stairs and just watch them from a distance. They look like one big family. I chuckle at the realization. Rosie's eyes then open and they lock with mine. I give her a smile.
'It's okay.' I try to mind link her, not sure if it will work. She sniffles and wipes away some tears and tries to smile at me without opening her mouth, revealing her teeth. I feel as if a heavy rock has been lifted from my chest.
