I was supposed to come back home before midday but because of the police investigation that took longer than expected I came back before sundown.
I park the car in the drive way and get out. Syris and the gang must have come back hours ago because his van is parked in the garage. I walk in the house expecting to see everyone seated in the sitting room. That way it will be easier for me to tell them everything that happened. But they were not there.
"Hn." I leave the car keys on the table and walk to the kitchen. If those idiots are not in the sitting room, then their next best place to be is the kitchen. They were also not there. I see the back door leading to our massive back yard open. They must be outside then. I walk out the back door.
I can't help but smile whenever I look at our back yard despite the tragedy that happened three years ago I still had a lot of good memories. Like the time when I hosted a party when my parents went over to another pack to sort something out. The Beta had a day off so went to go spend it with his family, but Syris snuck out just to come to my party. It was so big, I swear I made it to the Partying Hall of Fame's, damn was it big. And it was right here, in this back yard. But it wasn't fun when we had to clean it all up by ourselves as punishment from the Beta.
I then spot Syris standing by himself facing the forest so he had his back to me. "Syris!" I call him out and that's when I smelled it. The absolute shock and panic emitting strongly from him. He slowly turns around so as to face me and the look in his eyes sends a shiver through me. "Syris?" I stand a couple of steps behind him.
"Remember when you left Rosie as a 9-year-old girl?" he asks me, turning back around to face the forest. "Yeah." I say panicking. Did something happen to Rosie while I was away again? Then a warm breeze blows in our direction, drifting with it a light sweet scent of roses. And after the warm breeze was gone that was when I felt it. A ridiculous amount of power racing towards this direction. And it wasn't slowing down. I move forward to try and stand before Syris but he stretched his hand so that I don't move any further. "Stay by my side." He mumbles.
"Syris where is Rosie?" I ask him worried. He drops his hand and gives me a grim look. Then the ridiculous amount of power stops coming at us at full speed and it stops right before the trees where the forest ends. And there she stood. A girl with thick long curly hair. Her big red eyes shining brighter than any red I've ever seen. Her shoulders broad. Her pale skin hidden by the shadows of the trees. She and I lock eyes.
"Rosie is not 9-years-old anymore and she's hungry." Syris mumbles distressed.
Syris's P.O.V
I look at Rosie as she and Parker lock eyes. She seems calmer then before now.
'Syris, Rosie is coming your way again.' Eden tells me. 'I'm so tired, I can't even.' he breathes heavily.
'You are always the lazy one, so I'm not surprised by that.' I scoff.
'You know what? Try keeping Rosie occupied for the rest of the afternoon and come tell me I'm lazy afterwards you big jerk.' Eden growls at me.
I cut the mind link between us. "Rosie?" I hear Parker beside me ask. Rosie takes a step forward with a slight smile on her face. Her fangs showing. I feel myself cringe at the sight of them. I look to Parker and see he's not cringing. How is he able to stand strong at the sight of them? That's my Alpha, not afraid of anything. Able to face death head on and not stumble at the sight of danger.
~
After Parker left the house in his car, I told Rosie to go upstairs and go take a shower so that we may be able to go to town and get her new clothes.
