AN| Hi, so I took a extra long time thinking about these next few chapters, because of the dark themes that will be taking place inside of them and I know first hand how triggering this kind of stuff is and if you believe that it will put you in a bad position, look for these things (=====) that will show the start and finish of the graphic parts, I won't go rated X with them but I will show the impact these issues had on the character and that can be way more triggering than the actual scene. Now as a author, I have the responsibility to give important facts dealing with certain things and they are:

For every black woman who reports rape, at least 15 black women do not report. One in four black girls will be sexually abused before the age of 18.

One in five black women are survivors of rape.Thirty-five percent of black women experienced some form of contact sexual violence during their lifetime.Forty to sixty percent of black women report being subjected to coercive sexual contact by age 18.

Seventeen percent of black women experienced sexual violence other than rape by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

The Institute for Women's Policy Research also reports that:

More than 20 percent of black women are raped during their lifetimes - a higher share than among women overall.Black women were two and a half times more likely to be murdered by men than their white counterparts. And, more than 9 in 10 black female victims knew their killers.Black women also experience significantly higher rates of psychological abuse - including humiliation, insults, name-calling and coercive control - than do women over all.

So if you think about it, Jennifer hasn't been touched Anissa hasn't, Lynn hasn't, that leaves Jan. Alot of people have asked me why didn't she tell her dad she once she learned he's Black Lightning or that she has powers why didn't she just hurt him. In the last book she tried but he has her psychologically scarred making her too scared to protect herself and you also seen that she removed the memory from her dad because she didn't want to add problems to his list of issues. Khalil is the ONLY one that knows what happened to her due to him catching him hurting her. The women who do speak up are brave and the ones who don't are also brave. This happens to more people than you think looking at some numbers they may not seem large but looking at humans? It's a large quantity of women who don't have either street justice or court justice. This book is to explain how Jan deals with her demons alone and with help. I should have put this in the beginning of the book but yeah.

I also want those to know that your problems don't make you, they aren't you and they aren't your fault and if you need a ear I reply almost automatically 24/7 (I'm always on this app lol) so enjoy and comment and vote.

Janelle POV

I walk with Khalil as he talks about his latest meet. Why is he acting like he doesn't send me his schedule as soon as he gets it?

Me:I see you're excited.

Khalil:Hell yeah, my coach says that it's gonna be alot of scouts at this one for the seniors and if I do good I'll be in their sights.

Me:You're already in their sights Khalil. Just take a breath.

Khalil:No you don't understand I have to catch at least one colleges eye, I gotta get out of here.

Me:Do you hear yourself? You're a freshman and already have scouts looking at you. Take a breath.

Khalil:What about you? What do you plan on doing for the summer?
