This is a bit short and I've been gone for a bit, I'm sorry about that! Anyway have a bit of sad

"Okay, okay, settle down you two," Roman smiled at the sound of laughter in his mother's voice. "It's time for bed."

"But mooom!" Remus whined, "We're not tired!"

"Yeah! I was just about to slay the Evil Duke!" Roman added.

"Too late!" Remus smacked Roman with a pillow. "I win!"

"Hey!" Roman sat up from where he fell.

Their mother, May, laughed again, "Don't be mean. It's time to lay down, you can't stay up all night."

"Okay," Remus moped.

The two five year old twins put their toys away and climbed into bed, pouting.

May smiled at them and sat between their beds. She held Roman's hand and ran her other hand through Remus's hair, humming.

"Mom, when do you think we'll meet our soulmates?" Remus asked.

"I don't know, only time will tell," she said softly.

"Do you think I'll meet my soulmate?" Roman asked, "I mean, they are a witch, they have to be! No human has purple eyes?"

May leaned down and gave him a kiss on his forehead. "I'm sure you will, and I can't wait to meet them."

"I hope you will like them!"

"I'm sure I will. After all, they are your soulmate, and I love you so much."

"I love you too, mommy."

May continued to hum and after they fell asleep, she kissed both of their foreheads and left the room for her own. Even if she was forced to marry Thomas, she respects his sexuality and is simply friends with him, so she sleeps in her own room.

~~~
Remus laughed as Roman chased him down the hallway, both of them with a wooden sword.
"Get back here you fiend!" Roman shouted, smiling wide.
"You'll never catch me!" Remus taunted.
They were running past their dad's room, Thomas was having tea with May like they did everyday at that time, so Roman and Remus tried to be quiet as they ran past.
They were smiling wide as they played, until they heard a crash come from the room.
They both froze and looked in their steps.
"May?" they heard Thomas ask. Then more panicked, "MAY!"
Roman took Remus's hand and opened the door quietly. They peeked in to see their dad holding May, her teacup spilt and shattered around them.
"Dad?" Roman asked, tears forming in his eyes.
Thomas looked up at them, snapping out of his trance. "Go get someone! Go get help! Please!"
Roman stumbled back, startled. Remus ripped his hand away and ran off, shouting "Help! Someone!"
Roman didn't know what to do, so just ran off in the other direction, hoping to find someone.
~~~

Remus stared forward as Roman sobbed into his shoulder. The speech that Thomas was giving was muffled by the ringing in his ears.

Both of them watched as the casket was lowered into the ground as Thomas moved to stand behind them.

"It's not true," Roman sobbed. Remus felt tears roll down his face as he tried to hold in his sobs. "It's not true."

Thomas kneeled down and pulled them into a hug. Remus broke and started crying hard. He held onto Roman and Thomas and cried with them.

Thomas felt tears roll down his cheeks. It was true that he didn't love May, but he didn't hate her either.

That night, the twins slept with Thomas in his room. Both Roman and Remus heard their mothers humming.

It took a month to figure out who killed May, they got a lifetime in prison, but Remus wanted them dead.

The twins never got over the shock of what happened that afternoon. They may have healed, but they will never not miss their mother. Her soft voice, kind touches, warm smile. No, they will always mourn her.

"Hey Virgil," Roman greeted, walking towards him in the garden.

Virgil looked up from Kayda and smiled. "Finally finished with history class?" he asked.

"Yeah, it was pretty boring."

"You find all of your classes boring."

"That's because I'd rather be with you."

Virgil rolled his eyes. "Do you always have to be cheesy?"

"It's my job as your boyfriend, since you're not going to be the cheesy one."

"Whatever princey. But you're right, I'll never be as sappy as you."

"If you say so." Roman bit the inside of his cheek, thinking. "Hey Virgil, I have someone I want you to meet."

"Okay." Virgil took Roman's hand. He brought him deeper into the garden, Virgil hasn't explored all of it yet so he hasn't seen this part.

"Where are we going?" Virgil asked as they went past rose bushes.

"You'll see," Roman said softly.

Virgil gasped as they came upon a statue of a beautiful woman. She wore a crown and held flowers, she had a soft smile and warm eyes, her hair spilt over her shoulders and she wore a dress that went to her feet.

Roman let go of Virgil's hand and sat in front of the statue, a small inscription on the pedestal read "May Sanders."

"Hey mom, sorry it took so long," Roman said to the statue. Virgil realized that Roman wanted to introduce him to his mother. Roman continued, "I finally found my soulmate. You were right, he's amazing. I'm sure you would love him, he's really kind and brave and smart and strong."

Virgil sat down next to him and put his hand on his shoulder as Roman choked up.

Roman whipped his eyes and smiled. "His name is Virgil, and he's the best soulmate I could possibly have. He's snarky and really tough, but also kind and gentle."

"It's nice to meet you," Virgil told the statue, "I promise I will make your son happy."

Roman smiled at him and stood up. Virgil followed as Roman took him back, rubbing his back

"Thank you," Virgil heard a soft voice say. He turned back and saw a woman with brown hair and a white dress. Her smile was warm as she looked at Virgil.

Virgil smiled back and turned around, continuing to walk with Roman who was oblivious of the spirit that watched over him and his brother.
