Still flashback time

For the first few days, Virgil wasn't allowed to leave the couch. Logan would make him food that would be easy on his stomach and Virgil loved each new food. Logan loved his reaction to each one. He was so curious and so in love with all the flavors.

He started talking a lot more. He felt free to ask more questions and to tell Logan his opinion on everything.

Whenever Logan read to him, he would listen quietly and with interest. Always wanting to know what would happen next. He was always disappointed whenever Logan closed the book and told him it was time to go to sleep.

One night, as Logan closed the story and Virgil pouted, he decided to ask, "Logan, can you teach me how to read?"

Logan froze and allowed a small smile on his face, "I can teach you a few things." In reality, he was so happy to hear Virgil request that.

Virgil went to bed that night happier then he had ever been and Logan found it hard to fall asleep as he excitedly planned out how he was going to teach him.

The next morning, he cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast. He woke Virgil up and helped him sit up then handed him a plate of eggs.

Virgil happily ate the eggs and enjoyed the taste. Everything Logan gave him was so much better then what he was given while Black had him.

"Uh, Virgil," Logan started, he was a bit nervous about telling him this, "I'll be gone for a bit-"

"You're leaving?!" Virgil asked, panicked.

"No no no, I'll come back in a few hours. I just need to get some supplies, I'll be back."

"You're not going to get hurt, are you?"

"No, I promise I'll be safe."

"Promise you're going to come back." Virgil had tears in his eyes.

Logan felt his heart break, "Of course I'll come back. I told you that I won't leave you until you're healed and we find you a good family."

Virgil nodded and tried to wipe the tears away. Logan put their plates on the table and carefully pulled him into a hug. Virgil held onto him and Logan couldn't stop himself from kissing the top of Virgil's head.

"I promise I'll be back soon, I'll be as fast as possible."

"Okay."

"Hey, it'll be okay, Virgil."

"W-what if he comes back while you're gone? What if he finds me?"

Logan heard the tears in Virgil's voice and panicked "He won't, I promise he won't. We are far away from him and I promise you that he will never know you're here."

"I don't want to go back, he'll hurt me. He'll hurt me a lot, oh god it hurts!" Virgil started crying and Logan himself felt tears in his own eyes.

"Virgil, I need you to breathe in for four, okay? Four seconds, I'll count, one, two, three, four." Logan continued the exercise like last time. When Virgil was calmer, Logan promised, "Black will never find you. I will make sure he never finds you, you're going to be okay. I will be as fast as possible. No one will find you, and you won't even I'm gone."

Virgil nodded and tried to calm down. He was still sniffling and tears were still running down his face.

"I promise you that everything will be okay. I won't let anyone hurt you. I'm not going to go anywhere until you calm down. And when I do head out, I'll come back fast."
