Vada
"Are you insane?" Cassian scolds.
"She's right Cass. She deserves, at the very least, an explanation."
"Then what? You're going to live happily ever after with them? Need I remind you what our next step is, you can deny it all you want but we're killing Cynthia Wilder and everyone else she got to join her power search."
"No we are not. If push comes to shove I will use my powers to brainwash them."
"Can you even do that?"
"Yes, I don't know, maybe. All I have to do is create a permanent illusion that Electus doesn't exist."
"That could work actually- No, stop changing the subject, seeing Palmer is a very bad idea Vada. I don't see this ending any way but badly."
"Oh and you can see the future now?" I mock.
"No, but my judgement isn't being clouded by emotions. You're the one who taught us how to separate logic from emotion."
"That is exactly why you need to trust me when I say I know what I'm doing."
"You know I trust you with my life b-"
"Then start acting like it. I'll be back in a couple of hours." With that being said, I teleport to the park we agreed to meet at. It has been 2 days since I last saw her at the house, and I've decided to explain myself. I don't know why but I think I will sleep better by doing this. I've never known if faking my death was the right decision, I'm hoping to find out today.
I sit down on one of the park benches and watch the children playing on the jungle gym, the older couple playing fetch with their dog. It's such a beautiful day, the sun is shining, there's not a cloud in sight, it's not too hot, there's a light breeze. It's almost like everyone here took a happy pill this morning, they're just enjoying their lives.
"Hey," Palmer greets, I didn't even notice her approaching me.
"Hi. You were right, I owe you an explanation."
"I'm glad you agreed to talk to me, this explanation better be good, I'm very mad at you."
"We'll see," she nods and I start, "I should start from the beginning, the day of the explosion..."
After an hour and a half of filling her in on everything that has happened since the day of the explosion until now, I can't tell how she is feeling.
"So we're not the only fulminares?" she asks.
"Nope."
"And there's an entire organization called Electus that started the fulminare chain?"
"Yiup."
"Dane wasn't pure evil?" of all the questions she has asked, that one seems to be the one she can't wrap her head around.
"Definitely not."
"Salutis is bad?"
"Yes."
"I still don't understand why you couldn't come to us."
"Dane made it very clear that to pull off my fake death, everyone I love needed to believe it. Salutis wants to experiment on us, me specifically because they believed my blood could heal them instantly. If I didn't die they were never going to stop hunting me."
"And you are certain they wanted to experiment on you?"
"Positive. Cassian, one of my friends, I rescued him from the France Salutis base. When I got there he was strapped to the table being prepped to be a lab rat, an operation led by your headmaster, Cynthia Wilder."
