[ No-one's P.O.V. ]

Y/n L/n. One of Passione's best assassins, and yet the most beloved of them all.

She used her kind acts to treat others right. She used her strict persona to properly execute someone, physically or mentally. Her sweetness, alongside her heart of order, perfecting each other with balance...

They must've been some of the key features why she appealed to the don, Diavolo.

Strangely, he found it fine with her seeing his face. He trusted her entirely, and even though each of their meetings gave him a sense of anxiety, it was also excitement, letting the one he adores be one out of the gang of Passione to see him fully.

He could never say it, but he liked their moments together, whether they be small chats or moments where the two would seem so intimately close.

Her holding him in some way or the way they'd talk flirtingly. It was spine tingling.

He tried to resist, but it tugged at his chest, pulling him into an endless void of commitment, dedicating, and love.

But fate never seemed to have cooperated with him.

It was a bit before he told her how he felt. He struggled getting each word out his mouth but a simple, endearing kiss of reciprocation welcomed his feelings for her.

After that confession, a month passed. During a mission, Y/n was deemed dead.

Quite a few were sad too, no-one besides Doppio could feel the don's heartbreak.

He couldn't even attend her funeral, adding onto the pain he felt.

Days were spent letting Doppio take control of things as he grieved to himself, crying his own tears, sobbing by himself, that wonderful feeling switched with something depressive and vile.

Even when Doppio took the chance at their home to forcefully swap out with him, he'd just get to his bed and stay there until the freckled boy took over again.

He seemed to have shut himself off from everything else in the world.

Convinced by his behavior, Doppio took the chance before he went to bed to ask his don; "Is something wrong? You haven't been active, and I've been dealing with everything since you've been gone."

"Nothing. Nothing at all." He stated monotonically.

"Diavolo, we're connected by the soul, I think you're pretty safe with telling me." Doppio knew one of the only ways to catch his attention was to say his name. That way, he'd know it's serious.

"...I can't tell you." The freckled boys eyes widened at that. Diavolo normally acted as if he was a god, but now he was a mortal?

"It's better to let it go instead of having something so bad just stay there and rot." Doppio never shared many intimate feelings with Y/n, he still believed his other soul needed consoling.

"Doppio," He started, "I was in love with her... And Y/n, she loved me back." Taking over, Diavolo walked over to the vanity, going to sit down and prop his head up as he stared headlong at himself.

"She always said about how she only joined a mafia to... to try and help others. She was so kind, to me as well and- and I guess it... it took a hold on me. I should've put her with Bucciarati's team instead of us sick bastards."

He said it all with such agony. It was laced around like a thread representing grief had been sewn into his throat.

"Diavolo, I know it's not a good idea to... but you must push past her. She was nice, but she was merely another helper and-" "She wasn't just a helper! She supported me, and trusted me, and loved me, and she... she meant so much to me."

Remorseful, he laid his head on the desktop, tears dripping from his eyes as he grit his teeth, choking down sobs. "She'd hold me, she'd tell me such uplifting things, she cared for me..."

"Diavolo, I understand but... Wouldn't you want Y/n to be proud of you?" Doppio proposed. He had already caught on, and reluctantly, he stopped his tears, looking back up to see his reflection. He felt worn out, and tired of feeling this way.

"...Fine. I'll try and forget her."

And he lied.
