"We're even now. I love you."

I sat in my home office awaiting a call from Charlie

I sat in my home office awaiting a call from Charlie. It had been a few days since Mariah's ridiculous outburst. I figured she had ran her mouth to Charlie and pissed her off. I had been trying to reach her for several days with no luck. I tried my luck and called her emergency phone 5 minutes ago with no answer, but we had a rule to always return those calls immediately. I knew it would only be a matter of time before she called me back. We needed to resolve this issue between us so things could get back to normal. We've lost so much money because we weren't working together anymore. She needed to be reminded that even though she wanted to divorce we would always be business partners.

An hour had went by with no word from Charlie. I had to admit that I was frustrated by her new attitude. I could feel a smile appear on my face as a brilliant idea came to mind.

"TJ!" I called out for my son. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it sooner. Charlie used to get depressed or upset and would go missing for days with her phone off. The only calls she would answer were calls to her emergency phone and from the kids. No matter what she was doing or where she was in the world, she was always a mom first.

"Yea dad?" He appeared in my doorway. "Have you talked to mommy?" "Yes sir about an hour ago. I had an idea for a really cool experiment and wanted to ask her about it. She's coming to get us this weekend and we're going to try to do it." He beamed.

That was another reason I loved Charlie. TJ and Zaiyr were brilliant 8 year olds and she was the person in their lives that brought out their utmost potential. Lauren didn't always know how to handle having a really smart son. She wanted him to be glued to an iPad or PS4 so that he could be occupied, but those things didn't interest him. Charlie always knew how to feed their minds and challenge them to be better. At 8 years old they already had goals to work for NASA and make a difference in the world. I've never met kids like them. I needed to make this work with her and apologize for everything I've done. My kids needed her. I needed her.

"Can you call mommy back for me.? I need to talk to her and my phone is acting up." He nodded and handed me his phone as it was ringing. "I'll come bring it to you after I talk to her ok?" "Okay!" He exclaimed as he ran off.

"What's up baby did you finish your outline?" Charlie answered thinking that I was TJ. "Charlie don't hang up. We need to talk."

"Don't use his phone to call me. You know not to do that. I got him the phone so he could contact me no matter what. It's not for you to stalk me. I've been busy but I was about to call you back." She said right before she hung up in my face. I returned the phone to my son as my business phone began ringing.

"You have to return emergency phone calls Charlie. You know how it important that is."

"This is me returning the emergency phone call Tyler." She replied obviously annoyed. "I know that Mariah probably went down there blowing things out of proportion. I only suggested we kill Israel and his girlfriend because it seemed reasonable. I realize that you love him and I should leave that up to you."
